@ChasingOurTrunks - Wow, this is a lot to digest...thanks a lot. I will continue my research to figure out what would be the best option for me. I am looking for a mount that can can easily put on and take off for I will not leave it on the MDX. I will imagine I will only install the mount, or if not possible, store the traction boards on the rig when going on a trip. Not during normal daily drives. (MDX - 2009). Yes you are correct I do not want to drill any holes!!
I currently have Tule Cross Bar and OEM Acura roof rails. And I place a Thule cargo box on top when I travel. If there is a mount that I can install to either my Cross Bar or Roof Rail that would be my first choice. On a separate post, I am also looking for a place to mount my Hi-lift Jack.
Thanks again for the helpful feed back above much appreciated.

Okay, I'm new to this, so I just figured out there is a Reply button (Oops)Do you have much else on the roof when you travel besides the box? And does the box take up the entire roof real estate? And what about the dimensions of the box? Finally, what else do you keep in that box? (Sorry for the interrogation but I have some ideas I can recommend but they would depend on your use case).

Something to consider - if you want the Thule box and the traction boards on for trips but off the rest of the time, what about mounting the boards to the Thule box? You could use a flat mount and either mount that on the side of the Thule box or the top. You'd need to reinforce it a bit and of course generously use sealant to keep the water out, but it's an option and gives you the equivalent of a rooftop "Go Bag" for your adventures.Okay, I'm new to this, so I just figured out there is a Reply button (Oops)
Thule Cross Bar - 60inch
Thule Force XT - XXL Cargo Box - Ext Dimensions: 90.5 x 35.5 x 18.5 In.
OEM Acura rail roof rack
OEM Acura hitch
and since I am at it:
* 255/65/R18 WildPeak A/T Trail
* 30mm front strut spacers & 50mm Rear coil spacers
* Transmission cooling system and a fan on top of that to keep it running cool while I pull my future trailer
The cross bar and the cargo box only goes up on a road trip, otherwise it all comes off. so I will have less wind resistance.
