I never would have thought it to be true. But yes, it was weird and made me angry.
Someone walked into my camp and into my truck bed.
What to do? Invest in a truck cover. But is it worth it?

Before I got my FWC, I had a shell on my truck at the time and I left it unlocked when I was not around. I figured anything in the bed of my truck was less expensive than the shell. I would rather they steal my camping gear than tear up my expensive shell. Anything really expensive was stored in the cab.

I'm sorry, this is you trying unabashedly to send traffic to your YouTube, from which you are shilling gear. It's not a story of something that happened (I mean, it may have happened, but this isn't about the story of what happened, it's about sales). The video has been up 5 days with no likes or comments so you post a pretext here and a link

Seacrest, OUT

you said the video has been up for 5 days with NO likes and NO comments...so you're basically telling the world you're the only one offended over a pick up accessory video link on an "overlanding" forum...

Ha ha ha. No sir. All I'm saying is there was no traction on his YouTube, so he just drops a fake story as a pretext to get you to his YouTube site where he is flagrantly shilling a product. Not as a vendor here, just trying to be the Ron Sherman of OB, but Bull Shirting you to get you to his YouTube.

Yeah, I replied before I clicked on the video and only then realized this whole post thread was an ad. Sneaky, sneaky.

I don't know Tommys, but I've seen a pattern I noticed since he posted about Something weird in the forest. He posted that in August 2023, but in May 2026 he added a poll to ask how people thought he handled the situation. Almost 3 years later. Then come to find out, he already knew what was up, because he had already spoken with the Ranger at the time of the initial incident, and the Ranger had already confirmed to him that this guy was a known problem and that he'd done the right thing. So...Why post a fresh poll 3 years later? Well I figure to drive traffic to his other platforms , blog, YouTube whatever.

Others do it as they Drive Around The World Right Now but that's a full-on real trip report, not a thinly veiled traffic driver with a sales pitch.

Maybe I'm all wet on this or in a bad mood or something but this just hit me as annoying.
