Overview:
Trail restoration, post wildfire work party. All work to be done in conjunction with the Mendocino National Forest. The project is to replace post and cable barriers that protect sensitive riparian areas damaged by wildfire. We will also be installing several wooden barriers that will keep motorized vehicles on the designated route/road. Other work as needed and time allows.

October 3-7, 2019
Main work days 4-6, 2019

Location:
Mendocino National Forest, Stonyford OHV. Grindstone Ranger District
Work location is the Summit Valley area. 39.293280 -122.723174
Access is easy; no four wheel drive required to reach camp.

Work description:
Remove existing wire from burned posts.
Remove & replace burned posts. Approximately 80-100
Re-string wire through new posts. Using new and used ½” wire.

Base camp location and Camping:
Summit Valley above Letts Lake.
Camp is off the grid so bring all camping equipment.
Tent and trailer camping.
Event briefings and work party staging will be held here.

Personal Protective Gear required (PPE).
Work boots
Eye protection
Leather gloves
Long sleeve shirt suggested (to be used when using power tools)

I can only make it out after work on Friday. I would be able to make it to the camp site by 7pm. How are the roads for that time of evening?

2WD well marked forest highways basically for the most part. Evening/night travel should be fine. @Kent R has been to base camp and as soon as he's back online, he can chime in and verify.

I can check on base, but I think I saw a good deal on 5 to 10 lbs of some sort of BBQ pork rib cutlet something or others for a good price.

It does not look like I can make this one. I certainly enjoyed the last work party up there in August. I've tried twisting things this way and that way, but I just don't think I can take the time off from work for this trip.
