Hello everyone, new to the group, not new to overlanding or offroading. Is the local meetup at BVORR? I went there years ago with another club.

I have a lot of projects I need to fix before I can wheel again, but for light trail riding, I have my s10, I mainly take it to the beach as it's my daily.

I work a lot right now, so I'm usually gone on the weekends but hoping I can meetup eventually.

My vehicles
1985 Ram W350, project and needs a lot to complete.
1985 Ramcharger, needs injection pump sealed, so it's down for now.
2002 Zr2 S10, daily, so only light wheeling.
2004 Suburban, stock, so only good for camping and light trails.

My goal is to build my Ram and take it to the rockies and camp up there. I want to do the passes like Imogene and Black bear. But too many projects at the moment, so I mainly watch others on youtube and slowly plan out my build and collect parts.

Welcome to the heard, a lot of the meetups are at the beginning of the month. I will actually be in town this time so im going to try to make at least one of them. I haven't been to BVORR in years. Took a jeep out there, remember having a pretty good time.

The Houston overland fb group is really active and has meets monthly, they’re typically at the red circle as shown in the pic.

For those of us not on FB.... what's the date for the one in October? Stuck at the house after knee surgery and will actually be here for once

I'm in the Rigs and Churros FB group, I haven't made it to an event since I'm usually working or have other plans, but one day I will.

Hello from the Cypress area. We took some time off from overlanding and ended up selling our Opus camper. Slowly getting back into it.

im in kingwood. been away for a while due to life but things have settled down so ready to get back on the road and offroad.

Recently returned from north rim of GC through NM just iMessage for Hurricane Beryl. Just got power back up yesterday and internet today. Good trip overall.

I'm still standing (ha, now it's stuck in your head). Been doing a fair amount of play in the midwest though. Arkansas and Missouri have been treating us good. Down out of San Leon, always down for a brew and rig walk around when in town though.

Oh nice! Yea I’ve been looking in to building my 2 door jeep to over land in. I’m probably trying to set out for my first over land trip next December. Definitely looking to get out before then to try out anything I have added.

OnX offroad. There are a ton of.... trails? So this will get you from the border to mostly across via gravel roads and fire trails. Sam houston has a few, 87 run from Beaumont to bolivar (all beach bit of mud... gross but fun), then the offroad parks for break-in and balance testing. Not much in the way of "overland" in this neck of the woods. Dirt roads to campsites mostly. But if you want to test your gear, may know a few spots you can drive to. Keep your weight low in the jeep or keep the lift short. On road is whatever, off-camber offroad is where the problems will start. When top heavy rigs unload the suspension, control goes straight out the window. Screenshot_20250603_111547_onX Offroad.jpg

Honestly don’t have nothing really done to my jeep just yet besides 35s lol so I won’t overland till next year when I’ll have mostly everything done to my jeep. I’ll be heading back home to Arizona so I know there’s a ton of overlanding trails out that way.

I'm just a wheeler with a camping problem. I run factory suspension, 33s, and have a winch I'm not afraid to use. A jeep is more than capable factory to tackle just about everything you'll see here. Get out and explore. A cooler, a camp stove, and a ground tent can carry you a week. You're never far enough out to extra fuel cans or need a solid weeks worth of food, just hit the store on the way by.

Yea when i use to live in Arizona we did a lot of wheeling around the Buckeye, AZ area so definitely not afraid to wheel, unless it calls for some sort of lift since im stock on 35s lol. I'm definitely up for some trails around Texas when I'm in town since most of the stuff around us requires to go to an OHV park.

So hidden falls is, well, hidden falls. It's ok? Good shakedown point and worth a day trip or 2. Level 3 and under is doable on factory ride and 35s (took a bone stock 4th gen 4runner up there and did them all with street tires and no lockers, don't recomend). We have barnwell which is the same drive time. Bit muddier but a great time. Wolf caves and K2 up by Mason (don't recomend, that's some serious shit. Worth seeing but.... just look it up). MERUS up by Amarillo is a new one to me, heard folks talking it up and want to go at some point. Hot springs up by little rock, plus there are a ton of trails and cool things to do up that way. And as always there are plenty of, uh, trails around the state. Look up hill country overland route and the cross texas overland route. Also have big bend, SUPPOSEDLY since they shut the border back down it's become a bit safer, was pretty sketchy there for a bit. They actually recommended not camping at one point lol. Beach runs are king, just invest in a really good lawn sprinkler for afterwards. That's about the extent of "weekend runs" around here. It sucks you have to do the better part of a day drive to get to really good offroading that isn't in a park.just my $.10Screenshot_20250605_115757_Maps.jpgScreenshot_20250605_120216_Maps.jpgScreenshot_20250605_115830_Maps.jpgScreenshot_20250605_120439_Maps.jpg20180415_164211.jpg
