US Rocky Mountain 5th Annual JUNE JAM in Buena Vista, CO

I’m still RSVP’d but will be tentative. My Tacoma is still on blocks waiting for my coil overs to come back from overhaul. I am also traveling all next week, so timing sucks having just gotten back from a trip yesterday. Will see if I can come up Friday evening and stay through Saturday evening...

US Rocky Mountain San Rafael Swell - RM Region 2023

Thanks to all for the continued interest. The trip is overbooked at the moment, so if you have not been able to RSVP, then there is a high likelihood a spot will not open and I encourage you to plan alternate adventures. I will be reaching out to those that have RSVPd within the rig limit for...

US Rocky Mountain San Rafael Swell - RM Region 2023

@tjZ06 I’ll keep you at the top of the list as an alternate, as I do have many looking to confirm for this trip and would like to be able to lock in the participants in the next 30 days. If you can lock it it before then, just let me know. For the bypasses, it is about 20 miles to circle out...

US Rocky Mountain San Rafael Swell - RM Region 2023

Sounds good TJ. Here are a few of the trails that we'll touch along the way, if you want to research any of them....Trails Offroad has good content on all of these, as does YouTube of course. Fuller Bottom, Eva Conover, Copper Globe Mine, E Kimball Draw - Cat Canyon, Wild Horse Road, and Behind...

US Rocky Mountain San Rafael Swell - RM Region 2023

Hey TJ, Thanks for reaching out and sending details about your rig. It certainly looks and sounds like you are well equipped for this trip!! There will likely be some spots where a full size will be challenged. This is our first trip through the region ourselves, so I can't be too certain about...

    Who’s used one? (Waterport)

I’ve had the 8gal weekender (bought via Costco online when on sale) on the roof rack, perpendicular to the direction of travel. This puts the pump handle (purchased separately) and the hose connect right over my rear passenger door, and the pop-out shower tent we have. It’s been amazing to have...

    80/20 or Extrusion Builds

I really want to build a bed slide/drawer and storage system using aluminum extrusions (80/20). Has anyone done this and can you share some photos and ideas? I have a Tacoma short Bed (60”) and half the bed is a fridge slide. I typically carry a couple Zarges cases with recovery, pantry box, and...

US Rocky Mountain Overland Expo MTN West - Community Meet-up

We’ll be there Saturday if there’s folks that want to meet up then!

US Rocky Mountain High Dollar Run - Tincup > Taylor > Pearl > Paradise Divide

“We’ll equipped” is VERY subjective. These are some of the more challenging trails in Colorado for non-heavily modified rock crawlers. Our group still has modified rigs, with lifts, skid plates, and sliders along with adequate recovery gear to ensure a safe journey. There’s lots of great...

US Rocky Mountain High Dollar Run - Tincup > Taylor > Pearl > Paradise Divide

Crossing the high Rockies from Gunnison to Aspen and back to Crested Butte then around Paradise Divide and out over Kebler. This challenging run is not for the faint of heart or Ill equipped. We’ll meet in St. Elmo Friday morning for the run over Tincup to Taylor Park, and do Taylor and Pearl on...

Need Help With Wiring My LED Light Pods

I ran up between the cab and topper. I used little 3M zip tie anchors every couple feet up the bed and topper, and anywhere else I wanted a tidy appearance. With racks and other stuff hanging off the top of the truck, the wires are not noticeable at all.

    Critical Gear for getting started

Some of my staples are: - first aid kit - hydration and snacks in a cooler/fridge - basic recovery gear and anything needed to change a tire on or off road or get unstuck from basic situations - communications, I have a ZOLEO, but Garmin and others are as good or better, especially if solo. GMRS...

Dog | big fan of the bumpy road?

Our pups love it. Heads out, lots of smells!! We use the seatbelt buckle leashes when on trail JIC, and they sleep in the truck at night.

    Overlanding with Dogs?

Interesting idea to say the least. I just can’t imagine driving around with a wire crate on top of my truck! I’ve got 2 Labs, one 85lb and one 60lb. We keep a hammock style seat cover in the back seat of the truck and that’s their space when offroad and/or camping. We keep windows cracked and...

Good Starter Book with Trail Rating / Descriptions?

+1 for TrailsOffroad.com, worth every penny to subscribe. Funtreks is limited in the regions they cover, but are good trail guides as well. Gaia GPS is worthwhile too as you can get the MVUM overlay maps, which will show what is accessible and it always is current. You can also look at publicly...
