I fitted a diesel heater in our caravan, you can get portable ones but ive never felt the need. Big fire and more drinks then you don't care how cold it is :)
3/4" might be a bit heavy, i didn't make this but its a commercially made product and i think its 12mm plywood, even fully loaded i can lift it in and out of the back.
It has adjustable legs that fold underneath so can be used away from a vehicle.
Double bagging worked in minus 6.7C, thats a sleeping bag inside a sleeping bag. Then add one chunky black lab cross and a quilt and you're warm as toast.
That was in a cheap 2 man tent but my usual accommodation is a double swag which has quite thick canvas so keeps the heat in quite well, mine...
I looked at everything on the market and all have 2 beams over the rear in a V shape which wouldn't clear unless it was raised much higher on the rack which i didn't want.
Bought a 23Zero Falcon 270 awning last week and had a quite day at work so opened it right up in the carpark, my tailgate lifts to a pretty much horizontal position and back of the awning fits over it nicely.
Also sits low on my Rhino platform rack which helps for clearance in carparks and...
Took my nephew out for some driving practice on the weekend, found some awesome tracks thru a pine plantation and some quite steep fire break tracks.
I put together a short video for my nephew since it was his first time driving off-road.
I just upgraded my head unit to this 10 " android 12 unit, loaded it with IGO for street navigation and Ozi Explorer for off-road mapping, going bush on the weekend so get to check it out.
Not heard of that brand but most of the china built trailers come in CKD then get assembled and rebranded here so quite likely i have seen them.
A quick google and i found them - Camper Trailer | Ar Campers | Murrumbateman
The issue i see with a lot of these imports is that the canvas is...
Not impossible but not practical although as long as there isnt a beam that passes over the tailgate you could drape the end over it with a pole off to one side, the Disco tailgate is quite flat and doesn't lift so high .
I have a couple of sets of maps that i downloaded to use with OziExplorer , some are 100k and some are 250k .
I think the Nexus is 128gb and i only use it for mapping so find its more than enough, its getting old so time to replace it.
I prefer android devices but i think an ipad in the 8" plus screen size will be ideal, i have been using an old Nexus 7" before i upgraded to an android car head unit and now looking at an 8" samsung galaxy tab for mapping.
Thats all you can do, unfortunately the morons ruin it for the rest of us that respect the outdoors and want to save it for the next generation and so on.
This is not confined to overlanders , there are just as many day trippers and weekend warriors that wreak havoc as well.
Plenty of the android based head units use real GPS data for navigation, i have a 7" Eonon head unit with external GPS antenna that works well.
2nd screen is connected to the output of the head unit and has 2 inputs so i have a front mounted camera as well, it will run any compatible android...
I'm also looking at 270 awnings with a lift up tailgate and so far the only one that doesn't have a beam over the tailgate is the 23zero Falcon, the rear most flap doesn't quite cover the full rear as its a triangular shape but i think i could live with it. Falcon is the passenger side (RHD...
