The price probably went up because we were all looking at it... ;)

Steve & Deb Drive To Florida (February 2016)

Thanks @MarkW Normally I wouldn't care about trail rash, as I keep my vehicles until they're worn out anyway. But this Outback is the last model with a stick and turbo, and has kept a very high value among Subaru enthusiasts. So while I'm fine driving over rough stuff, and have made...

    Volcano grill

Are you sure? It doesn't actually say it is the Volcano 3 anywhere, and uses the same photo that all the $109.99 20-200 ads use. Just make sure first! And is that from Wal`Mart, or from their Marketplace, which can be any Joe anywhere in the world. And now it is suddenly $122!

Yea, I did that once. Just once, as I never tried again...

    Volcano grill

I have no personal experience, but it has great reviews on Amazon: http://amzn.to/1PbY97u I don't know what the difference is, but the Volcano 20-200 is $110 vs $145 on Amazon. And If you buy either at drugstore.com, you get free shipping and $15 off of your first order over $75...

    Best price on a TemboTusk?

Best price for the full kit I found was from Road Truckers, at $209 plus $20 shipping. http://www.roadtrucker.com/12-volt-cooking/tembotusk-skottle-grill-kit.htm I've got one on order from the above link.

Steve & Deb Drive To Florida (February 2016)

Sometime in the next couple of weeks, Deb and I will be heading south. My brother rents a house in New Smyrna Beach, Florida (south of Daytona) and we will be staying with them. We plan to take our time heading south, stopping along the way at interesting places. and then using their place as a...

    Off The Grid 2016?

Late September *almost* worked out for us this past year. We'd have needed to beat feet to get there in time after Seattle Pacific University's freshmen orientation, but we really, seriously considered it. Screwing up the CV joints killed it for us, as we ended up in a Subaru dealership getting...

How do you spend your "down" time on the trail?

I tried fly fishing several years back. But streams here in the east are usually heavily wooded, so very little room to cast. I used it mostly as a light bass rig in ponds and lakes. For streams, I still like my short ultralight rod with 2# line. That makes even a sunfish fun!

    Best price on a TemboTusk?

Thanks, I knew the price through Tembo Tusk. I was asking if anyone had found a good deal or discounts through other vendors, of it you (@administrator ) had finagled a discount for us Overland Bound Members or Contributors. I want to order on for my trip to Florida in February. Thanks! [EDIT]...

Anyone bought a TemboTusk Skottle and have a recommendation on the best price retailer? Do Overland Bound members get any sort of discount? @administrator @TemboTusk

    Rigs parking next to rigs

Out of all the brands I've driven or been associate with, I don't think I've ever seen the sense of community as Subaru owners have. I can't tell you how many times I've come to of somewhere and found one or two parked next to me, and I do the same. On Subaru forums or Facebook groups, the kids...

OB Approved Basic Map and Nav

Very, very nice, @Dunco! Definitely a good candidate for a Boot Camp posting. It almost could be two separate tutorials, one on mapping and one on compass use, although in reality, they both need to work together. Thanks for putting this together!

How to Start a Fire - Collected Wisdom

I'd listed a UST BlastMatch in mt list back on page one. What I like about it vs. other ferosteel rod fire starters is that it can be operated one-handed, and it is easier to place the spark where you want it. Here's a demo video showing using one.

    Cricket Trailer

@Dunco The representative at the RV show said it weighs 1500 pounds. That's also what it shows on the web page. I don't know if that's the basic trailer of the one with all the bells and whistles (stove, potty, fridge, etc.) as it says the same weight on all three versions.

    OB Approved Rules of Conduct

Here is a nice piece on Nitto's DrivingLine blog with many of the same etiquette points. http://www.drivingline.com/articles/off-road-basics-trail-etiquette/#.VpGsf06mI4s.facebook I've saved it as a PDF, and have attached it here so you can save it on your laptop, tablet, etc. for future reference.
