Definite thumbs up on recovery and safety related gear. :)
We had trouble getting a catering trailer down to a meadow on one of my preserves yesterday and to keep from damaging the trailer I pulled my traction boards off my rack and used them to bridge 2 rocks and reduce the drop off height...
I've done retros in the past and I really hate baking headlights. I've had some turn out well and others were never the same. It would look good but it's not something I'm willing to risk right now. Besides, I need to fix my noisy leaf springs and brakes first. lol
Total suspension + body lift...
Sounds like a good plan. :) Skid plates and rock sliders are good mods for trucks given the long wheelbase. A basic setup like that will get you safely to a lot of places. You don't need a ton of fancy gear.
Just place it in both places temporarily at night and see what it looks like. It's pretty easy to find a dark road somewhere, place the light and power it up via the battery without going through the hassle of running wires and mounting the light only to find you hate it in that location. :)
I used it for a quick run to the dump. The scale at the exit confirmed my calculations. She's a PIG! lol Stock curb weight is listed at 4,508lbs.
5,320lbs at daily driving weight which includes 200lbs worth of sandbags and 1/4 tank of gas but without the winch.
Then on the way home feeling...
I wrapped up the DVO Off-road front steel bumper install and chrome delete on the grille then slapped on the new front skid plate. The bumper and skid plate lined up very well despite not being designed for a body lift but I had some trouble getting the winch to clear the lower active grille...
Nice rig! Looks like you're off to a great start. The advantage of being familiar with camping is you already have a good idea of what is truly helpful vs. decorative frills for showing off. :)
I think you found the secret. Take the wife to Expo and she'll get caught up in the excitement and money will flow like wine. Hmm maybe add wine too! lol
Haha yeah. I've been watching some pretty complex recoveries on 4wdAction. Learning a lot from YouTube. :)
I have a few more items I need but I have the basics covered now. Snatch strap, static strap, shackles, tree saver, snatch block, damper, rolled up magazine, etc. Sadly, I know I will...
Thanks! The ZR2 is pretty well set from the factory. With all of the weight you plan on adding in the rear I would wait on raising the front until you get everything else added. Otherwise you risk butt sag. Haha
