This was the Overland Bound Inland Empire group run for January. Not all the rigs were from Overland Bound, but 11 of them were. Next challenge: Group runs are great, but sometimes you need to get out alone, so your rig by itself in the middle of nowhere.

Post a pic, make a new photo challenge!

Isn’t it funny that this thread is quiet for long stretches and then really active for a short bit, and then goes quiet again? Anyway since there was no new challenge, how about a photo of your most recent campsite.

    Camping Whisk(e)y?

My go to is Pendelton, but I also like Tin Cup. I recently got a bottle of Redemption Rye, and I’m really enjoying it. Ever since reading about it in Craig Johnson’s Longmire book series, I’ve wanted to try Pappy Van Winkles, but it sure is pricey.

Welcome! Come on over to the Overland meetup forum, and check out the Inland Empire thread. We do a run every month, and you are more than welcome to join. Unfortunately you missed the January run, it was last weekend, but we’re going to Anza Borrego for Tierra del Sol in February. Hope to see...

Ok everyone, here is the plan to our January run. January 18 we will meet at the McDonald’s at the junction of interstate 15 and state route 138 at 9:00 am, and do the Cleghorn Ridge trail. I’ve never done that before, but it’s one of the famous Southern California trails, and should be lots of...

No trail repairs? That’s a good thing! How about a picture of your rig in the middle of nowhere for the next challenge. Something like this:

    Coleman Sickness..affliction...

The stove looks like a 425 series, it’s small and compact. They may have changed the model numbers though. The older ones had the model number stamped in the metal on the front of the stove. I really like the light green top on the propane lantern!

Yes, that’s California. East side of the Black Mountains in Death Valley National Park. As the crow flies, maybe 15 miles from Badwater, but a place very few people see. See y’all tonight!

When do you replace a spare?

I have a trailer made from a 1974 Datsun pickup truck, and it still has the original spare tire under it. Looks like it has never been used. Definitely not road worthy, but neat that it’s still there. My truck is a 1980 model year, and it had the original unused spare under it too, but I...

    READ ME !

That’s only a small part of my library. I have over 12 feet of shelved books about the desert! And around 10 feet of old west nonfiction. I’ve always loved books.
