Re-attached my dipstick tube which pulled out in my hand when I went to check the oil. Apparently a common problem with these engines - the tube is just pressed into the block. In fact someone had previously repaired it with some kind of orange rubbery goop. JB weld to the rescue!
I learned...
This shows the path along the bar and onto the beach. The circle indicates the exit point which I'll show more detail of later on:
Once onto this little bar, I think it would be pretty easy. The water is very shallow here and the approach onto the beach is fairly gradual. There is a clear path...
So I rolled today with my eldest daughter to scout the Harrison to Pemberton FSR route, specifically to scope out the water crossing around the washout at Bremner creek at 55kms (or 56 depending on what sign you believe). We ended up leaving home a bit late, around 10am, and we had a pretty...
Explored Harrison West FSR to scout a water crossing around a very nasty washed out bridge with my dear eldest daughter. I'll be posting a more in depth trail recce report on the thread I started in the Canada/BC section. The long and the short of it is, I'm fairly confident the CRV could do the...

When I bought my vehicle, I had several criteria I had to meet. Firstly, my max buget was $3500, which is what I sold my previous vehicle for. With that money, I wanted to check off all the following:

I've got a 99 CRV that I eventually plan to install the OME 2" spring lift kit and a set of Bilstein shocks. I wanted to know, do I need to try to find shocks that are 2" taller than normal, or is the natural shock travel sufficient to accommodate the 2" lift springs?
Forgive me if this...
I daily drive my rig because there's no way I can afford to pay insurance for a car that is just a "toy" for overlanding - my wife drives the minivan, and my car has to be my adventure mobile as well as my daily commuter. I drive 72kms to work each way, so 144kms per day - one of the major...
Ha, you captured my camp in this photo! I wasn't a member here before I attended. I actually took a closer look, and you captured me! I'm sitting behind the table. The CRV is just blocked by the Sprinter. lol too funny we were neighbors. I was also at the vehicle recovery class you show here...
I think backpackers and overlanders share the same root desire to seek the wild places and witness the untouched, or at least little touched beauty of creation. Moreso than people who just want to go camping at a campground, both backpackers and overlanders are after what you might call a more...
