How do I go about learning if an area is allowed to be camped on? I've researched several places now and can not get even an indication.. Anyone one know of a source/agency?
Especially interested a spot I see on The Keys.
To this I agree! West coast has much greater dispersed camping opportunities, yet those are a bit inland. When it comes to seafood, our salty water really brings out the flavor! I doubt I'll find much better than the Canadian Rockies for size and beauty, yet I'm a salt water guy and love the...
I was partial to the beaches along the north shore. Singing sands though east shore really does start it! It became a joke for us.. If you ask a local a question, pull out a couple beers and chairs!
I can work with elevation, confusing when added to latitude.. When I traveled through there before, it was dealing with altitude. Adding latitude into the mix is weird to me, yet on a level I seem to understand (?).
I've skied Tahoe as Looked down on desert.. ya confused me, smiled and cut a...
Great info coming back! Thank you!
Well, let me push it a bit further because I've figured the Mogollon Rim was out during winter.. I figure that's 7800ft.. Piney Canyon in the Chiricahua Mts. is 6-7K ft.. thought much further south
I do like it! The beta player is cool! Shows most all of the data the GPS collects. Shame I can't use it on a route I create.. I may just have to fire up the Windows laptop and head for Google Earth Pro for that (ugh).
My first try at it! Did a screen recording to only capture a portion of the...
Having a problem deleting waypoints.. Also the folder still shows, but the route is gone.
So far I've: Opened the folders section and un sync'ed it. Opened the waypoints and un sync'ed them. Tried deleting first from the folders section, then from the file itself, and now from the waypoints.. No...
Well, I have jumped to the other side of Tucson and getting a bit overwhelmed... Have a look at this proposed route and let me know any thoughts on it. Seems I'm gaining some elevation in areas through here and not really much for dirt routes, that I can find...
I posted a video of what I'm thinking of so far. Byways no Highways Jan/Feb planning pt1 This covers Quartzite to Joshua Tree and thoughts of southward to Yuma.
Looking a lot like running Rt85 to Organ Pipe. The area looks like something not to be passed up.. so be it. I may still try while down there and work a route, but I have a feeling Rt85 may be it.
What can you tell me of Organ Pipe Catus NM ? I see two scenic routes down there and two CG's. I...
I stayed at two commercial CG's on the east coast & north shore, then boondocks a bit west side and south shore. Seal Cove on the east side, just up from the ferry terminal, was a great start. Also Bayside CG on the Northshore. iOverlander does a pretty good job on showing commercial and free...
I learned I can drive through the Yuma Proving Grounds at least along the AZPT. Now I'm hoping to learn if I can do the same on the Barry Goldwater Range. Hoping to dirt road Yuma to Organ Pipe.
Just had a response from AZPT.org. They confirmed what I was told. I can only confirm the road on the AZPT, no others! This opens up the route I hoped for traveling Quartzite to Joshua Tree by dirt! WHOA! Estimating 140 miles and 2400 ft elevation changes.
Ya, colors went quick this year! My area (Auburn, NH) was brilliant for a week. We're losing leaves like crazy now, still some color, yet that beautiful brilliance is past!
If you caught, it was awesome this year! Found some very unique spots this year for following years foliage runs!
