Seems most folks got the main point of this 'sport' is about the adventure. Not how much you spent.
Six years back I met folks from Spain traveling in a Unimog. They where some of the coolest folks I've met on the road. Ya someone spent many dollars to get this unit setup, but they were average...
It's going in the RV that limits any of 'my' good spots.
Do look at Lamoine State Park as mentioned before it's kid friendly with a large area to play in. Winslow Memorial Park just south of Freeport is another. It's a community park with a big picnic/play area! Down side is they allow...
I have to ask! Really how much? Is it cost of or how pretty it looks to Overland?
Then it comes down to 'overlanding'... When the heck did this become a thing? We all have been driving, camping, exploring for many moons.. At least some of s have.. Now more.
I see these rigs on the my path...
First time creating one if these. No issue with more rigs as it's a day run. Just pleas RSVP so I know who to expect before we leave. I have extra com's as I'm sure others do. Bring fluid & food as we will stop along the way and do a possible walk or two.
Running Campton, NH to Rt 89 just north of Contoocook. I don't see any thing technical about this run and nothing involving closed gates. Nice day easy early season run.
I hope to venture off the path and visit Sculptured Rocks s I've never been there. Looks like a nice break from driving...
Acadia NP is like Cape Breton to me, Been there and no need to go back.. Everyone, I mean everyone goes there! Maine has so much to offer (also like the Maritimes) that you don't have to go there to see the true region. Then again.. 'everyone goes there'..
I am a fan of Lamoine State Park for...
This is a shameless plug to my YT site, but... I do have some video of runs I've tracked around NH.
2021 playlist exploring NH
2022 playlist 'Color in the 'Shire'! Jon and Colt are on the Part 4 section with us!
Just added you to the NH group texting. You should be able to back trace it and see some of the .gpx files I've posted. This is where I hope NH folk will come and post up runs. We have an early one you'll see setup there.
We just did a Meetup for NH folks in Franklin, NH. We're hoping to do another next month, so stay tuned!
We're expecting the season to start early due to little snow this past winter. I'm watching for the gates to open up and allow us some overnight runs. Still I expect the gates to open...
The wonderful thing about what we do is we don't need to camp within the NP. What drove me nuts over the past few years is how many NF campsites were closed and still are.
My conversations was Hosts/Rangers has been: This is the new normal.. There's not enough Hosts to manage them.. Back in...
A spur road we took as we drove out of Carlsbad Caverns NP. Nice easy dirt path with great views! I was in need of more dirt by then on our trip..

That's a challenge gladly excepted. It's not the tool that makes a Master, it's the knowledge!
I agree the $$ are being driven up and it drives me nuts to see someone with an expensive stove ready to toss it to by another expensive stove just because others like it better..
Your food is not...
I do have issues with this system. After visiting a few NP's this past Jan/Feb we stayed in 3/4 full campgrounds that were booked full. At 3 different locations I spoke to the Hosts & Rangers about this and heard "Nothing we can do." Turning away visitors because folks are reserving and not...
Funny you mention Baja.. After this past Feb down there I've decided I need either a second tank mounted or carry extra. !'m 380 miles on a tank. I pushed 340 before I found a petrol station. Guess it depends on where you're going to travel & of course availability. Baja I found several stations...
I go between Gaia and iOverlander as of now. Gaia'a cost has gone way up since they were bought out, so I'm researching alternatives. OB1 has a long way to go to catch up to the big boys out there, once there.. then I'll debate the cost..
Leadnav is a real GPS tool and the basic version is a...
I'll say rethink going that far and not going deeper! Baja Sur just gets nicer and nicer. I didn't get all the way and plan on returning to spend much more time there. Catavina is a interesting geological area. San Ignacio area is also very cool (find the bone yard). You'll be late for the...
We were there as well in February. We only made it as far as San Ignacio due to the winds! They were relentless! We hid in Petates RV Park for a few days and watch the Palms sway in the wind..
We need to pop the top to sleep comfortably..
I read your journal and it seems you're saying the...
