Overland Bound WA Trip - August 2016

Memories of epic proportions. Yeh, that's about how I'd sum it up. I just want to post a very quick thank you to Micheal and Corrie and all the OB crew that allowed us to participate on this fantastic weekend's adventure. We made new friends, listened to some great travel stories, saw some...

Plano Camp Kitchen (Beta Box Version)

I have the collapsible colander and mixing bowl in the travel trailer, but try to stay away from cooking food that requires them when out overlanding. I use Barilla Pronto pasta which does not require the need for a colander (and it does taste the same as regular boiled pasta)

Plano Camp Kitchen (Beta Box Version)

I use three Plano containers to organize and pack my junk in when off exploring-adventuring-overlanding. One has been used to house gear for the camp kitchen, but as everything gets stacked on top of other stuff, it ends up being a disorganized mess. Rewind to yesterday, when I decided my Sunday...

Rubbermaid Actionpacker vs Plano Sportsman's Trunk (Review)

I have 4 of the smaller Plano containers. I bought them at Wall-Mart for no more than $20 a piece. I use one for recovery gear, extra stove fuel cannisters, etc...and it lives outside up on the roof rack. I have one set up as a camp kitchen (my project yesterday, actually), and one for dry...

Do you keep your jerry cans on your rig all of the time or just when wheeling?

I keep a red MFC up on the left of the roof and a blue MWC on the right, and drive around making police car noises when bored. :) In all honesty, I only take the extra fuel cans when I'm out exploring or on a longer adventure.

    Food & Water

I read about a million different opinions on the subject (well, maybe not a million, but it felt like it), and time and time again people suggested that one of the best investments a person could make was a true fridge. Living up here in Canuckland, things tend to be much more expensive. Based...

    The evolution of Miss X.

I really need to take the time to sit down and post up some pictures of our summer road trip / adventure. I unfortunately have to get back to work here this Friday afternoon, but I'll leave a little teaser. In a nutshell, we covered 6000km in two weeks, we headed out from home here in BC...

    Alberta through the PNW

If it were me, I'd cut over to the Oregon Coast sooner than from Portland to Cannon Beach. Maybe more directly west to Florence, then north from there. The scenery is spectacular from Florence north to the Newport area. Sounds like an amazing trip in the works. Have fun. PS. We live in...

Overland Bound WA Trip - August 2016

Yes. Sorry, did not mean to confuse things. I'm just mentioning that we live in a relatively close part of the world and sort have have to live with fire bans in the summer months. Hopefully we can have a fire at the Friday night rendezvous point, but if we cannot it is for good reason.

Overland Bound WA Trip - August 2016

We live north of Wenatchee and the general area. This is the first year I can remember where we did not have a fire ban in place by the beginning of July. It is something we are accustomed too live in the Okanagan Valley. We had an unusually mild and damp part of July which likely resulted in...

Overland Bound WA Trip - August 2016

We are certainly interested. I do not know anything about the area but would love the chance to experience it and meet up with some of the OB folks. We are about a 5 hour drive from the Cle Elum - Rosalyn area and I'll hold tight to see what the firm plans, rally point, etc may be to see that...

CB Antenna mount option with rooftop tent

Thanks for all the help. I've bitten the bullet and ordered a 4' Firestik with spring, quick release adapter and a rear hatch adjustable mount. I figure this can give me mounting options. I'm going to mount it at the rear to start, see how that works. It is realistically for convoys anyways. I...

Overland Bound WA Trip - August 2016

I may also be interested regardless. Our plan is to get away for a weekend of camping anyways. Some firm details from the OB crew one way or the other by the weekend would go a long way to help me sort my plans out.

    Axes

I have the 23" Fiskars chopping axe and a bow saw that live under the back seat of my Xterra. If I know I'm going to need firewood, or their is a great possibility of deadfall on the trail I will bring my chainsaw too.

    Nature Photos

Spent the better part of our BC Day holiday out on a day trip type adventure. We found this beautiful little MacDonald Lake up in the mountains by the Coquihalla Hwy and it made a perfect spot for a picnic.

We ran into a plethora of signs while out on a day adventure yesterday.

Overland Bound WA Trip - August 2016

We are certainly interested if this is the base destination. Cle Elum is about a 5 hour drive from our home, and we'd love the chance to meet up with some fellow like minded souls for a weekend.

Show me a Road Sign.....really any sign...

I'll preface posting this by saying that I grew up with a Father who's thirst for adventure led us past many a "No Trespassing" sign, and over many a fence. It seems that he always believed these posted do not enter - do not pass objects were meant for everyone but him. As a wee kid I of course...
