I personally bought a 2012 JKU Sport knowing i was going to modify it. Yes, mine had the head go bad at 20k but Jeep fixed it without batting an eye. I doubt there are any sub 20k mile, early 2012 JKs still running around out there so you should be fine buying one if thats the route you choose...

Two track Sand roads are fun. Just enough give to cruise along smoothly. Im also a big fan of open rock... granite or sandstone.

Removing the hardtop on a JKU isnt really a "whim" item anyway.
