    Hardshell RTT Question

Check out the TuffStuff 4x4, ALPHA II. I have the regular full sized ALPHA on my Tacoma but the II is smaller footprint.

Any Tuff Stuff overland trailer owners out there?

Don't have much to compare but I had a TS Ranger and I thought quality was very good. I just got the TS ALPHA hardtop and I think I am going to be very pleased. Hardtop is easier for my old ass to deal with and lots of good features.

    Advice needed!!

Just picked up a Tuff Stuff 4x4 ALPHA . It's a hardshell and has some nice features like interior and exterior lights, decent mattress. good ladder. It has a sky light if you want to pull back the rain fly so leaking shouldn't be an issue. They also upgraded the new models with the window flys...

    Fly Fishing

BPS/Cabelas is a good place to get a feel for what's offered in various price ranges. Look at any local Trout Unlimited type meetings and contacts. They often have beginner instructions. You can read online to get an idea of what you are trying to do, what knots to learn, and general principles...

Ouachita National Forest, Ozark National Forest & Mark Twain National Forest Highlights Request

Next I headed towards the aforementioned Blanchard Spring/Cavern but I didn't make it before dark and I pulled into Gunner Pool Rec. Area and set up in the dark. https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/osfnf/recarea/?recid=43443 Leaving there I went up on the North Fork of the White River or...

Ouachita National Forest, Ozark National Forest & Mark Twain National Forest Highlights Request

I was out that way last October and I ran across a few nice spots. Blanchard Springs Rec. Area was particularly nice. https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/osfnf/recarea/?recid=80932 I left Byrd Recreation Area after the Ozarks Rendezvous and ate at a neat place Oark General Store. There was a...

    Bed Cover and Rack Combination

I like my Diamondback cover and mounted my RTT on their rack. It has a lot of pluses but inexpensive ain't one of them.

    Shower Experiment

Yeah, I've got one very similar (not the enema bag) and the red plastic nozzle goes first. Just cracks and you can't use it to turn it off. I'm sure I can rig something that would suffice. Did the milk jug shower again today and it worked again! Few more clinical trials and it will be ready...

    Outer Banks in October

If things go as planned I should be in the area along that timeline. I have a small aversion to making detail plans too far in advance. I try to keep things flexible for things like weather and other unpredictablities (life). There is a New Moon on the 16th that may mean good fishing that...

    Outer Banks in October

I am contemplating a week or more of camping and fishing somewhere around mid-October until November. I was around Hatteras and Ocracoke two years ago and it was wonderful. I really liked Ocracoke Is. Camping on the beach is not allowed on these upper islands like down below Ocracoke on the...

    Shower Experiment

Can't get much simpler than a used milk jug. Not sure about durability but can always take a backup. Just switch tops.

    Overland Hammocking

Looks a lot like the Hennessee Hammocks I have. Saw somewhere a guy had mounted a frame that could go on front and rear custom bumpers. Was away from side of vehicle and little higher. Hammocks are comfortable!

    Shower Experiment

So, after few hours in the broiling Carolina heat and humidity unpacking and mounting my new Tuff Stuff ALPHA hard top RTT today, I took the gallon milk jug that I left sitting in the sun and did a little shower on the back deck. I had drilled four eighth? inch holes in the top. Probably got the...

    Fridge and power help please!

I have been running a CSI 52 qt. fridge/freezer for a year now and I like it. (There is a newer model now I think). It will run off 120 V or DC vehicle lighter plug. I just got the plug in power to run/charge my Goal Zero 1000 off the vehicle DC plug and now I run the fridge/freezer to the GZ...

    Anyone actually use back-up cameras?

Handy for hitching trailers and backing in parking lots. Oh, and seeing if you left your tailgate down. I still use my mirrors for most things.

    Spare Fluids on board

You forgot the snake bite fluid. I suggest a good bourbon. But anything 80 proof or better will suffice I suppose.

    Weather

I was considering a southern route next Spring and working north as the weather warmed. Think there are any fish in N.M., Arizona?

    Checkist for Leaving Home?

I leave home for a couple of days a week so short trips and occasionally two to three weeks I have down. For trips up to two months I started thinking of things like emptying the fridge and freezer, cutting off the water, feeding the cat (JK no cat), holding the mail. What about motors and...
