    C rated vs E rated

Yes and no. I go for about the same amount of sidewall flex and increase in footprint (which is totally unscientific)... which generally will mean less of a decrease in air pressure on a C vs. an E. In other words, on the exact same vehicle (loaded the same way) you'll probably keep a higher...

GMC Canyon SLE CCLB: Boise ID

My Dad's side of the family has had land, and later a cabin, way out past Warren on the South Fork of the Salmon since my Grandpa came back from WWII. It's my favorite place in the world to spend time, and I've traveled a lot. I've been going to the cabin (and I do mean cabin, no...

2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Build

I bought the complete tool kit, including that tool. Luckily no, it didn't ever overheat (I did do a combustion gas test on the cooling system before I began any of this to check for head gasket issues and it came back clean). -TJ

    Refurbishing a cheap Disco 1

If you're curious what your plugs are saying about how your engine is running, I wrote something up on it previously: Spark Plug Reading... - Dune and Dirt If you can provide a few close-ups I'd be happy to give my $0.02 too. -TJ

5th gen T4R build. Ditched Jeep after 26yrs!

Wow, that's a super-pretty rig to start with! Off-topic, but any advice for me before I dive into the timing set and hydraulic lash adjusters in my 4.7 HO (long-story, but I was going to just replace a radiator and then... and then... and then...)? The thread is here if you have any thoughts...

    Joe's WAYAWAY 2001 4Runner.. and adventures

I've always, always loved those 3rd Gen 'Runners (especially the ones like yours before the hood scoop). Seems like a great adventure rig that you've built just the way you want! -TJ

    1st Gen Tacoma Budget Build

Icon... nice! I know it always looks less extreme in pics, but couldn't you have just slowly crept forward when you were on that little mound? It looks like the back tire was about to start coming back down the mound... -TJ

This is really happening! Just bought an IKamper Skycamp RTT, roof rack, and awning!

Thanks for the info, I'll just see if they end up replying here or not. I've seen lots of reviews of the tent itself, and I definitely like it. I just want the "mini" version if I ever go RTT. It's the total setup w/ the awning, anex room, etc. etc. etc. that just looks miserable to setup...

What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

ATI Super Damper for my 4.7 HO in my WJ. I'm doing a bunch of other work, and just couldn't help myself when the damper was coming off anyway. -TJ

Congrats! The IKamper Skycamp Mini is my "dream" RTT if I ever decide to go that way. -TJ

This is really happening! Just bought an IKamper Skycamp RTT, roof rack, and awning!

Honest question: how long does that entire setup take to put up and break down? -TJ

2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Build

Well, just ordered an ATI Super Damper for it too... being at work on the internet is dangerous to my wallet. I also got the master tool set for timing set job. If any other WJ 4.7'ers need to borrow it when I'm done just let me know. -TJ

    C rated vs E rated

We always think it's going to be a rock that slices a tire... yet it's ALWAYS wood that gets 'em. -TJ

    C rated vs E rated

I know you said "basically" so I agree. FWIW I run a F-rated tire on my 3/4 ton '11 Silverado 2500 HD. Of course, I also pull a 16k lbs 5th wheel with ~3k lbs of pin-weight with it (let's please not get into a GVWR debate). I went C-rated on my WJ because I never intend to tow much of...

Fool-size Overland Trip: Tamarack Lake in Shasta-Trinity National Forest

Yeah, I always like to assume wheelers/Overlanders are "different" and don't do stuff like that... but unfortunately there are bad apples in any group. -TJ
