    2019 RAM 1500

The 2019 RAMs are sooooooooo nice. We got our 2019 a little over a year ago now. Here's how she looked bone-stock: And the crazy screen these things have: And how it sits now, it's still too purdy to wheel though (it's my girlfriend's daily driver, but it has been put to work towing and...

    New guy from Santa cruz

Welcome, I was born in Santa Cruz and lived there most of my childhood, then on to Watsonville and back to SC to attend UCSC before moving up into the Bay Area and eventually out here to Lincoln. -TJ

I’m between a New Rebel or an older Raptor

Have you driven a JLUR? We test drove a few, including one with the Mopar 2" lift and 35"s. It drove amazingly well, and I imagine the diesel will only drive that much better with all the torque. A JL Rubi is a very different ride than a JK or TJ. -TJ

2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Build

Thanks, and yes I definitely intend to hang onto all the stock hydro-fan stuff. If this e-fan setup doesn't work out I'd hate to have to source it all again, as you stated it's hard to find parts for it, and when you can it's expensive. Once the e-fans are fully proven (at least a year of use...

Tents and why you purchase them?

When I bought it I was just getting back into tent camping, coming from years of 5th wheel toy haulers, a few big RVs, etc. (I still have a 5'er). So I wanted to go with something pretty affordable for my first foray back into a ground tent so I could feel out what I actually wanted for size...

I’m between a New Rebel or an older Raptor

Pretty much sums it up. Also don't fool yourself into thinking it's a *real* trophy truck. It's impressive for a stock truck off the showroom floor, but it has its limits. -TJ

I’m between a New Rebel or an older Raptor

I don't think any of us are saying a Raptor can't "Overland" or isn't good offroad (to a point, it's much better for certain things compared to a Jeep but not as good at others). I think what we were saying is that we'd all be very leery of used Raptors. If you can find the old-man owner who...

    Lift kit question

The AEV stuff is good quality, and I believe they carry a warranty on their parts. They're running Bilstein shocks (supposedly with their own valving...) which have been a perennial favorite for a DD/weekend off-roader shock (I run them on my WJ and really like them). It's not that I'd say the...

    Your one "must have"

Yeah, you're not a gun guy 'til a bear is charging you... or a tyrannical government. ;) :D And yes, TP is a good call (this is why "1 thing" impossible). I'll raise your TP and add baby wipes. For some reason as an adult male with no children of my own I never thought of bringing baby wipes...

2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Build

Yeah, I will for sure be using something to ensure the shroud is fully sealed against the radiator core. As you said, it's necessary to make sure air goes through, not around. Besides that, it also protects the radiator when things get to flexing and moving like they will even with the best...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Did a combustion gas check on the cooling system and pressure test, determine for sure I have a radiator leak. Lots more details HERE, but I melted the CC down ordering parts today so I can get to wrenching soon. -TJ

    Lift kit question

What are you looking to get out of the lift? How do you use the Jeep (is it your daily driver too)? Are you currently having tire-rubbing issues? All of these are important questions. Luckily, or unluckily, you have probably THE most popular 4wd platform EVER. That's great because any part...

    Overlanding a navigator?

I'd say if you're sticking with a 2WD 6k+ lbs vehicle, get a proper winch on it. Really, I think I'd give that advice for ANY Overlander (especially if you ever intend to go out solo - which I'm not a huge fan of anyway). Besides that I think testing and trial and error will help you spend...

    Your one "must have"

As for me, it's really hard to pick ONE thing... so I'll break the rules and do two: Firearm In-Reach Spot or similar GPS device with ability to send SOS w/ location -TJ

    Your one "must have"

Wow, what a cool throw-back. I also grew up with those mags and columns, but likewise hadn't even thought of them in ages. I'm going to have to see if I can find some of those compilation books. -TJ

Input on Silverado vs Tundra purchase decision?

Not really, I just like the poke a little fun. I actually was pretty close to buying a Ford truck when we sold our big diesel pusher motorhome. At the time I was considering a Yuge 5th wheel trailer so I was looking into a F450 to replace my Silverado 2500. We didn't go that route, but not...
