Passed Technician. Ham Cram FOR THE WIN!

The Yaesu FTM-400xdr does all of this in one radio package. The Yaesu FTM-100DR does arps or cw, but not both at the same time from what I understand... personally I’m going with the Yaesu FTM-400XDR as a lot of people in my local ham club run it as well as several OB members...

    Aux wiring?!?!

I hadn’t either. I tried searching the internet for someone doing this before, and if it has been, the process hasn’t been documented. Once I get all the parts located, I will be doing a whole documentary on it as part of my build thread.

    Aux wiring?!?!

So a relay’s purpose is to take a low amp input and turn it into a high amp output. The LEDs in the rocker switches draw less than an amp with all of them turned on, so no need for anything more than 22 gauge wire to feed the relay trigger. What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

In Jim’s situation Gaia is good, but without having ARPS, there isn’t any way for us to track him on it while he travels. And if he gets into a situation in the Backcountry where there isn’t cell signal his iPad will be useless to get a message out for help.

    Aux wiring?!?!

I am building my own auxiliary system...I had similar requirements, replaceable relays, upgradable easily in the future , compact, waterproof, and cheap. Also running my wires to a custom overhead console for switch panel and coms along with to my roof lights, I needed the wiring harnesses...

What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

@Lanlubber It’s a gps device that can send text messages via satellite signal... most importantly it can send a locator beacon to authorities in the event you have an emergency... I would actually put this at the top of your list Jim, for a piece of mind for the rest of us as you are traveling...
