SLO Rob, S.L.O_X, and I were chatting about mats today and their multiple uses came up.
What uses have you put, witnessed, or heard a trac mat being subject too?
Ok. No more conversions. NASCAR isn't even based on a production chassis or motor anymore, much less a lot off off road racing vehicles. Terrible Herbst Truggy ...... not based on an on road vehicle.
So glad the truck I just bought is pre smog.
CB is a funny mode. It's in the 11 meter band, so it has the potential for good long distance work, which is why illegal amps are so popular. But CB's are so low power that benefit is not realized as much. Then, because CB is longer bandwidth, you may be able to talk up the trail, but short...
That sounds good but without knowing the load on it, an overload is an overload. The 4 AWG feeder looks good. I cruised about teh intrawebs and took a consensus of 50" light bars. They all tend to run in the 20 to 21 amp range. If this light bar is within 5 wire feet of it's distribution you...
I ran a few load calcs against it. It looks pretty safe. I'd use it. And depend on it to get my family home. I like that it also shows minimum recommended conductor size (the size ok column).
Here is Southwires online calculator. It seams to be one of the only calcs that takes into consideration the max amperage rating of a conductor, regardless of length of run.
In all respect and sincerity to @roamingtimber, don't use that chart. Even in best case single conductor in free air circumstances, it does not even follow max ampacity for a given conductor size. I ran multiple load calculations against it with load, length of conductor, acceptable voltage...
Yea, I remember walking by the Xterra while we were elbows deep in rigs and thinking, hmmmmm.......that doesnt look right. I nudged it. It moved slightly. It appeared that it would hang on until we got home. I chose not to explore it further.
FULL SIZE! Cool.
Fresno area should have a selection of fabricators due to the proximity of the desert and the Sierra Mountains. I would look even as far north as Sacramento.
Alright, in all fairness to the alternator carnage, I now know I hit that mud harder than I thought. Ten broken attach points on the front (what they call a plastic) bumper. Helllllllllloooooooooooo new winch bumper!
