It's definitely and interesting idea. If you look at Davis AutoSports and what they charge for "resto-mod" XJs... it seems to indicate that people will pay pretty good money for builds like that.
I really like the FSB as a platform, because it's a bit of a jack of all trades. They can fit...
I have a lot of good memories in full size Broncos. Here's a pic of my buddy's from way back when:
I can tell you, if you go THAT big in a stock FSB you'll end up with a bent frame, tweaked TTB, bent rear axle housing and a good bit of wavy sheet metal (including the doors touching the front...
As I said, that section in the video is the exit of the tunnel over by the "adventure park" and is not part of a marked trail, or if it is it'd be a black diamond. The pictures, on the other hand, are green or blue trails. Again, for clarity, the video is of a section of challenging terrain I...
With all the fires, it's hard to say what's really open and available these days. Most, or all, of my suggestions for actual trails would be 2+hrs from the East Bay as well. That said, Hollister Hills SVRA might be a great option for you, and should be ~1.5hrs from the East Bay. You can stick...
No problem, I figured hey, WK2s are something I really know so I'm happy to share. I didn't really say it, but I'd say the Trailhawk with the Trailhawk luxury group would be my suggestion, especially if it'll get some off road duty. Mine is a '17 as I said, and the luxury group in '17 "just"...
The 8 speed is a far, far, faaaaaaaaaaar better trans and is one of the best things about a WK2. Also, in '16 they went back to a regular style shifter, so I'd really consider looking '16+.

I have 2 WK2s, and have owned 3 total. Our first was a '16 High Altitude (5.7 Hemi) which we sold and regretted that, our 2nd and the wife's current daily is a '18 Trackhawk (6.2 Supercharged), and I just picked up a '17 Trailhawk (5.7 Hemi) for use with my teardrop trailer and as my DD...
You crack me up man. The whole "minivan engine" thing was about the 3.8s in the early JKs. The 3.6 is no power-house, but it's been pretty damn reliable in '12+ JKs and JL/Ts. Especially with the 8spd in JL/Ts it's a decent setup. And the last gen Hemis were junk? We had a '06 Ram with the...
Weather-sealed: if possible yes
Super small: maybe not "super" but I'd like to keep it in a pocket so I actually use it more
Blow up pics and print: no, I don't see that happening
Fair point about the cell phone, and I have an S21 Ultra which is supposed to have some of the best cameras (it has...
I'm really curious to see how it works as well, especially since going no-hood didn't seem to do much (but there are theories around back-feeding caused by the windshield high-pressure zone).

Decided to experiment with hood vents, finally. I had picked up a junkyard hood and some louvers months ago, but finally did something with them.
The idea is to take advantage of the natural low-pressure zone that tends to form towards the front of the hood. The air hitting the front of the...
That's about the only thing they did right. Have you ever owned a vehicle with a nice 12+" screen? Our '19 RAM 1500 had it, and it was great. The screen could be divided into multiple different functions so you'd still have a nice big Nav display but still also have HVAC and/or stereo...
I'm 100% with you: total disappointment and I fall further "out of love" with Chevy. The first car I drove was a '84 Chevy Cavalier... okay that's nothing special but it never, ever, ever let me down. Then the first car I bought was a '72 Camaro RS. It was a rusted mess, but I loved it. The...
I'm all over the place from simple (ground) tent out of the WJ, to Overland teardrop, to just off-roading to the family cabin etc. Some probably isn't "Overlanding" but whatever, I don't care much about the definitions as long as I get out there.

A more useful title could help too, something more like "Need help finding info on a Pinzgauer with an OB badge in the Boise, ID area". I clicked just because I own a couple houses in the Boise area and have family there, but a lot of people might think it's a for sale post or something.

True. It's a lot like asking 1911 vs. polymer double-stack, blonde vs. brunette (give me a redhead ;) ), etc. That said, asking what to get for dinner you might get a recommendation for the best Mexican food in town, maybe you don't feel like Mexican that day but at least you know the best...
That's simply not the case. Ford has plenty of videos on it. It modulates the brake, but at times it will lock up. It's not an all or nothing thing.
