Right... so it seems like we agree it'll cause LESS net-damage than MORE. It seems the OP was concerned, and wanted to "call out" Ford because the feature would cause MORE net trail damage.

So, I think the issue some folks are having is it's not rear-steer like you're familiar with. I had a Galant VR4 with rear-steer. On the Bronco (and new Defender, and Land Cruisers, and prob other vehicles too) what it's doing is braking the inside back wheel to help the vehicle pivot around...
I spend a lot of time in Palo Alto (I have an office and apartment there) and would pay not to have to go to SF. I expect most Overland types will also want nothing to do with that city.

My point was pretty clear. The thread was about people "calling out" Ford for the new features on the Bronco. Those features only help the Bronco stay ON the trail and do less damage. If you want to find something to "call out" and complain about, might as well make it something meaningful...
What are "auto turn brakes"? Do you even understand what you're ranting about? First of all the function is called "Trail Turn Assist" not "auto turn" or whatever. Second, it seems that you're entirely unclear on what it does. It's not that the Bronco has a bad turning radius... for what it...
So, turn-assist to stay on the established trail... or cut the corner and/or blow out the other side of the trail without it?
Find something more important to worry about and "call out", you might want to start with the Biden administration and Afghanistan...

I'm an Information Security Engineer, and have run a few forums and I'm not sure I agree, exactly. It's not that shorter name requirements aren't less secure. It's just that the threat surface at 2 letters vs. 3 letters is nearly identical. Security is always a trade-off game. The most...
The pic is deceiving just because of the angle I parked at, and IDK if it was the mode my (phone) camera was in, but see how the Jeep's rear tire looks smaller than either the front tire or the trailer tire? Obviously they're all identical. I'm not saying it didn't have any sag, but actually...
TBH, this is the first time I've needed to seek out tech support on a forum, so I've never really looked/noticed. I still think the description of this forum is reasonable for my issue. I don't need immediate tech support, I'm not unable to post, or send messages or any other core function of...
Perhaps a mod/admin can move it? Honestly, I took a quick scan of the forums and the description here made sense to post. Having so many forums with overlapping content can make it non-obvious where to post something. I tend to scan from the top down, and if I find a forum that sounds correct...
Hey OB admins,
I was updating my location in my profile since I moved recently and ran into an issue. Apparently the forum requires 3 or more characters for a first name. My real, legal first name (on my Birth Cert, SS card, etc.) is just "TJ". Not T.J. Not Thomas. Just "TJ".

Welcome! You're going to love the weather and geography, but hate the politics, taxes, expense, and most of the people. ;) What part of the Bay are you settling in?
-TJ
Sorta from the Bay Area... spend more time here than home. Home was NorCal (Lincoln, CA) but just moved to Vegas. I still work in Palo Alto though, and keep an apartment here. As such, my Overland stuff is here since it's something for me to do on the weekends I can't go home.

I generally agree, but from the initial post I'm guessing the OP doesn't have an Overland-capable vehicle currently. Sure, ANY vehicle can overland in theory, but maybe he drives a Corvette or something. ;)

There are so many important questions we need to know the answers to if we're going to be able to provide reasonable suggestions.
First and foremost how much do you want to spend?
What region(s) will you Overland in (the terrain you'll be on most should be a big part of your decision)...
Thanks for the input. I do have a max coupler, so it has infinite articulation in multiple directions. Still, a bunch of switch-backs could get very old. I suppose what would be the best move is to start early, cover the West side of the trail, find a good spot to camp for the night hopefully...
It looks like synthetic rope, right? Synthetic rope will just drop staight to the ground if it breaks, carrying little energy.
Anyway, AWESOME post, thanks a ton for sharing. I did part of that trail in '19 when m WJ was much closer to stock. We got to the rockier bit you talked about on...
