Based on this post, I'm betting a 5 year old Toyota 4Runner (hell, even a 10 year old 4Runner) will do what you need and for years to come. Honestly, the sway bar links can be removed by hand if that's even needed. And honestly, front and rear lockers certainly can help offroad, but it really...
Cant define "vehicle" by the type of fuel it uses, either. Otherwise we would be having existential debates between those whe drive gass and those who drive diesel - oh, wait a minute...
Just found this thread and had an opinion after the initial post. But I wanted to go through every page before posting.
My thoughts on the mid-size would be the Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon. Quality of this platform is quite solid - some say as good as a Toyota Tacoma. The build quality gap...
I used my dad's Viet Nam era issued mummy warm sleeping bag an awful lot when I was a kid. That was the best bag. I wonder if the newer ones are as good? But man, it was NOT light.
Hi RJ,
We were up in North Woodstock, Lincoln, and through Franconia Notch up to Bethlehem this past weekend and you were right. Northerly and higher altitudes, the broadleaf trees are already bare. South of Concord things are still a bit colorful, though. However, for anyone reading this who...
Good Lord, that's some scary mileage if you are talking highway. I checked my v8 2014 GMC Sierra z71 Double Cab against the much smaller, by Chevy Colorado and found that my truck is rated slightly better fuel mileage -probably due to the Active Fuel Management/ cylinder deactivation that cuts...
Both very very nice. My buddy has the Benchmade and his son (who is now an Army Ranger) has the K-Bar.
I thought Spyderco knives opened smoothly until I tried my buddy's Benchmade. Wow. I still cant justify the price, but...wow.
I have a Victorinox Super Tinker Swiss Army Knife that I bought for myself when I graduated back in '88 before heading off camping. Carried it every day since then. I broke and replaced the red plastic handles back in 2012. Now I generally carry a different Swiss Army knife -one that is readily...
The Byrd Cara Cara is essentially a larger sized Rescue Jr, though this old R3scue Jr uses ATS 55 and the Cara Cara 2 uses 8Cr13Mov. More bang for your buck using the Byrd. The Byrd IS made in China, but made to Spyderco specifications. So although inexpensive, it's " got it where it counts."
There's a few folks talking about survival knives here, but I'm going to try to stick to the original question regarding "rescue" knives.
I use the "Byrd" Cara Cara 2 rescue (by Spyderco). I have one in the center console of my 2014 GMC Sierra and the center console of my '99 Jeep Grand...
I'm up in New England, so we see a fair amount of cold, snow, ice, freezing rain and slush. That means a lot of Salt, both from the nearby ocean air and dropped on the roads all winter.
I had the Blazer version of your Suburban. 2 doors with a very short rear end. I hear you when you talk about...
"He loves sitting in the front seat of this truck."
Sh!t, Jabba, that's all you had to say!
It's great you have the skill to do those conversions.
We dont seem to have any K5's around here in the Northeast any more. Someday when I'm ready, I'll check south and west.
Alright! These old 70's and 80's square bodies were the prevalent in my youth. They were actually marketed as rounded body style, and if you look at previous generations you'll know why. This generation was in production for something like 16 years!
I love this generation and the GMT 400. But...
