Why are there so few Silverado overland rigs?

Thank you, Maze. I appreciate the input. Those Grabber ATX are pretty expensive but if I wont need a separate set of snow tires then it could be worth it. Half an inch deep cleats! My first truck -a 1991 Chevy truck Cheyenne single cab short bed -had Goodyear Wrangler TD's on it and I liked...

Why are there so few Silverado overland rigs?

I was looking into Grabber AT (2?, 3?) but seems like they are a little lacking in 33 inchers? I'll look into the ATX

Why are there so few Silverado overland rigs?

Yeah, I will. My main concern with the BFG's has been so many people talking about the short treadwear life. Anyway, I've got proper Cooper snow tires on it for now, so it will be spring before I make a decision

Can I Overland in this Rig?

I cant speak to Bolivia, Paraguay or Veezuela. Only Brazil and Mexico of late 1990's to early 2000's. To be clear, I've never been asked by an official, but was told to be prepared in the way I mentioned. Sort of a "dont ask/ dont tell". It came in handy at least once.

Can I Overland in this Rig?

It was common at the time (I dont know about now) and people there were still deferential to men. If there was a car crash, the police sometimes wanted to speak to the man or would ask a lone female driver where her husband or father was. Maybe its changed now, who knows. Beautiful country, for...

    New sub region?

Not a bad idea. I'm from the Northeast and I have the same concerns but for New England. I didnt get much traction on my request. A few people chimed in saying it was a good idea, but got nowhere. I wish you good luck

Can I Overland in this Rig?

That's great news. The last time I was in Mexico and Brazil was probably 15 years ago, and that was what the locals advised me to do. That way, if they are the bribing kind, they just take it and leave you alone. If they are not, then it's just a mistake that there was 20 bucks tucked in where I...

    Let's Talk Cast Iron

My parents always cooked on cast iron. Me when I left home, I got the cheap nonstick. A couple years ago, heard it was toxic when it started flaking, and checked what pans I had. So I started buying Lodge cast iron. The last US cast iron maker, so the decision to go Lodge was easy. My girl...

    Easy Chili Recipe

Agreed no pinto beans. I hover between dark kidney beans, light kidney beans and black beans.

Can I Overland in this Rig?

Eh, not to spill the beans here but in my experience driving in Brazil...keep a $20 in with your drivers license and another in with your registration. When you get pulled over, they usually just ask for your license. Keep that $20 under it as you pass the license over. Maybe keep the 20 between...

    Dogs with motion sickness?

My Beagle is in a Kurgo Tru Fit harness attached at the seatbelt in the back seat of my Sierra. He is fine at first, as long as he can stick his head out the window or put his front paws on the center console to see out the windshield. He gets antsy when we are stopped at a red light or slowed...

    Trans Massachusetts Trail

Any idea what towns you were in at those bridges and that stream? Swift River maybe? They look like they would be really nice in the fall time

    Trans Massachusetts Trail

Looks like a nice New England country ride. I'll have to hop on later this year. So, did you run the actual Trans Mass, or is this another one that you have created?

Solid food that can be reheated in a saucepan on a campstove

Wow. Can't beleive nobody in camp had any of those things. I have most of that on me just walking around every day. I do think I might have too much in my pocketses, though. Leatherman in leather belt sheath, Swiss Army in the pocket, small keychain Leatherman with my housekwys on it I usually...
