South America - routes and locations

That one is similar to US's South Dakota Badlands! Very nice pictures and travels. Each new one I see I have to hit "like"

Roof rack for awning on pickup topper

The underside of my cross bars has a track in them - just as the topside does. I may be able to jury rig something. A 6 foot awning would be nice, but I wonder how much coverage it would really provide. If I space the 8 foot right, theres only 9 inches or so of overhang... Next thing I know...

How many of Chevy Tahoe's in the community?!?

Big fan of the Tahoe, as they are the direct descendant of the old big Blazer. Slight lift/ level to me means Bilstein 5100. That's what I used to level my 2014 Sierra out. Just remember that doing that means that as soon as you load out the cargo area, it will look as if the front is higher.

Organized vs. OCD. Where is the line?

Just one opinion but the line is crossed when the need to organize interferes with daily activity. If you can be X organized but there is good workflow and it isnt holding you or anyone in your group back, then you are organized and not OCD. To me, OCD is the need to organize being so great that...

Old dogs CAN learn new tricks. Ha ha. It's all about the treats.

How is the ride and performance while riding near max payload?

Sanford & Son is winning out. It's got more soul, plus the image of Peter Griffin performing it on stage with his ass is unforgettable

Roof rack for awning on pickup topper

Your topper paint job came out very nice as well. How long is your truck bed? I have Trac Rac Cap Rack on my topper, so there are basically 2 fat rails that go side to side, but no front-to-back rails. Thinking about getting a similar awning and figuring a way to attach...

    Overland Hound

Melatonin. Natural, and helps when clipping nails, driving, or any successful activity. Obviously it's not 100% foolproof, though, but it helps

Roof rack for awning on pickup topper

Cool that you can metal fab. What awning is that?

How is the ride and performance while riding near max payload?

I'm hearing the themes from The Beverly Hillbillies and Sanford & Son competing for space in my head

How is the ride and performance while riding near max payload?

Just remember that this isnt like a light switch. Everything isnt just fine and dandy until that pound over capacity is the straw that breaks the camels back. If you were to take a yardstick and measure the distance between the top of the rear wheel, and the wheel well edge, it would sink a...

    Departure day 6/18/21

Nice. We called it off. Having just come back from 2 weeks on the road, today was an unexpected day off. We tried to book but couldn't find anything we liked in our price range. Local beach today. Enjoy Bah Hahbah. We will catch it next time

    National forest service annual pass

So...actually, the very title of this thread seems to be a misnomer. The America The Beautiful pass is for National Parks and other federal reserve and recreation sites. Most Forests dont charge entry. But campgrounds do, and often. You can get 40% - 50% off camping. When we got to the Badlands...

    National forest service annual pass

Yes. The "Access Pass" is for people with permanent disability. It does not have to be a 100% and I beleive the Access Pass is a free and lifetime pass

Eastern South Dakota -- where should we go?

Sioux Falls. Lots of nice little restaurants and stuff during the day. I do highly recommend hitting western South Dakota if you can. Wow. Badlands, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Wind Caves.

Ford Maverick and the small overlanding pickup truck

Napa et al went to Colorados because they stopped making Rangers in 2011 or whenever. The fleet aged and it was time to buy more. Toyotas are expensive. What were they left with? Chevy Colorado was the obvious choice. They may go back to Rangers, but I could definitely see them selecting...
