I built a platform for mine. Put tools and gear in totes that wheeled right under the platform. Then used an old sleeping bag, air mattress, then my newer sleeping bag on top of all that for a bed. It was pretty good. No need for a tent, all my gear was dry. Lockable. Rack (Truck Cap Rac) on top...
Nice truck. The black enamel looks good on the frame and underpinnings. I used FluidFilm on mine, something I'll have to re-apply from time to time.
Perhaps before you bought it, that truck may have been used to tow a boat and back it into the water? Or near irrigation on the farm?
You look ready! I dont know if you've been out that way before but it is a sight to behold. All of it.
If you are getting to the Big Sky/ Gallatin River area, make sure to drive the canyon on 191. Out by Buck's T4 at all? Make sure to eat and drink at the Corral.
Be sure to fill the gas tank...
Sounds like what I'd want. I didnt know they made Scamp anymore, let alone with a "mamma's attic". That's great!
I sometimes think of trading in my GMC Sierra for a ZR2. The only reason would be parking size, as the fuel economy on the 5.3 DFM engine is similar to that of the 6 cylinder. Well...
Huh. Wow. I was about to ask, at 3500lbs, is it worth all that extra equipment and effort just to tow with a 5th, but it seems it's less a matter of weight than it is the fact you get that overhang to sleep in. Lot of extra space.
Cool!
Thanks for th update.
Interestingly, Brent mentions little time being left (2 weeks? A few days?) to try to stop this but he doesnt really mention anything solid in terms of notifications, meetings or permitting process dates. Unless that was at the very end of his video, and I missed that...
Perhaps I could do with some clarification. I'm not sure Brent explains this well enough, not in this video anyway. Though I get the main premise thr details are unclear.
I'm not a fan of strip mining or open pit, for the environmental destruction it causes. So I'm with him there. But to be...
Just because they sell it, doesnt mean you should buy it. They sell transmission and radiator "stop-leak", too. Take your chances, and get ready for some repairs.
Rail mounted equipment not to exceed a thousand pounds. The Scout Yoho alone weighs almost that.
If you want to use a slide in for a mid-size, I think your options are Toyota Tacoma or Ford Ranger.
Meanwhile, my GMC 1500 will tow a maximum of over 9,000 to almost 10,000 pounds. So a 3,000 travel trailer, a teardrop, a military trailer with an RTT, or even a Leer or ARE camper shell would all be far more advisable.
Yeah, I've seen the Scout Yoho. I like it. I've also seen the sticker in my half-ton telling me not to use a slide-in. And I like my truck more.
The Scout Yoho is almost a thousand pounds dry. DRY. You, your spouse, and your dog and equipment add to that. The Colorado can carry a maximum of...
The thing about slide ins is that the Colorado and other midsize trucks are really not rated for them and they dont make a good one light enough for them. Even the K1500/ half ton is not quite suited for them you really need a 250/2500 series to carry one of those along well
"I have an update, and that contains new information." And the story of that update is: that I have always liked the first gen Toyota Sequoia. It's kind of like if Toyota made a vehicle to compete with the Chevy Tahoe.
I'm not sure what was the issue but a couple years ago I tried to update, and could not. I dont know if its because I didnt register the Garmin when i got it? Or if it was so far out of date? I'll have to try again soon. Yes i believe i had downloaded and installed Express and tried to work...
