    OB Approved Chain Saws

Pro tip, keep a crayon in your tool bag to mark your start point for sharpening. A stump vise is amazing as is the 2 in One files

    Overland Safety: First-Aid Kits

I would add a package of H&H compressed guaze. The Israeli bandage likely won’t be enough.

    OB Approved Chain Saws

Keep in mind batteries have a finite life and traditionally not done well in the cold. Expect to have to replace the batteries in 5 years. The replacement batteries will likely be more costly and harder to find because by that time technologies will have improved and new systems will be in place.

    OB Approved Chain Saws

Yes! Steel toes are a must, composite toe work boots have their place for sure and I own both. Composite is great for electrical anything and are much cooler in high heat situations. I wear Danner steel toe, steel shank RAT boots and absolutely love them. I wear size 14 boots and have not...

Enlightenment and the Full Size Truck

I believe full size trucks are far more modular allowing more utility. I will forever own a full size truck.

    Axes

Hults are awesome but for me it's hard to beat Stihl axes and hatchets. I use a Pro forestry axe and the pics are the pro splitting hatchet. I re profiled, refinished the handle, and aged the head. It's my favorite!

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Worked on installing my Icom ID5100A HAMradio. I'm about 2/3 of the way through.

    2015 Overland/SAR F150

Today I installed most of my ICOM ID5100A and antenna. I hard mounted a double ball ram mount in the tray of the upper center stack. One ball to hold the HAM faceplate, the other my cell phone so I can eliminate the suction mounts. I routed the control cable down the stack through a grommet...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Everyone beat me to it, there are 4 sizes that I know of so watch what you order. I have the fire extinguisher in the largest I case I want to replace it with something larger.

    Tire inflator/deflator

I'll cast another vote for the ARB deflator. You'll find cheaper units but these are the best I've used. I'll bet I've cycled my Jeeps tires with the Arb deflator a good 30 times with no signs of wear.

    What tents are you using?

Shiftpod2 for basecamping, Sierra Designs Tensigrity pro for backpacking, and a 4 person Sierra Designs for inbetween.

What do you use? Ham radio or CB radio?

I hated running CB before I went the HAM route. Another benefit to HAM is that it will likely be the only working form of comms during a natural disaster. Programming is really easy, the test for technician is very attainable and radioes are very affordable. The HAM user base is huge and...

2016 Toyota Tundra Multi Phase Build

I vouch for the SPOD, i had a hard switch version in my Jeep and just installed an SE with touchscreen and Bluetooth in my F150. They are awesome. Nice build!

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Testing out a cargo management system for my truck bed before a nicer version gets dabbed up. I also populated one of four Builtright panels.

    2015 Overland/SAR F150

This is my daily driver 2015 F150 which I also use for SAR, disaster response, and over landing. My goal is to keep it stealthily, modular, and quickly adaptable. I want to keep a low profile. I will not be doing any rock crawling, mud bogging, or pre running so I don't need any extreme mods...

    Favorite Dehydrated Meals?

Mountain house is like the nike of backpacking food, good stuff, but not the best. I use them for about 25% of my backpacking meals. If you want to be sad, eat their scrambled eggs and bacon. I absolutely love good to go as well as pack it gourmet. Please, if you like flavor, try these...

    Handheld radio recommendations

Like others have suggested, go HAM, you can get your license easily in one day. Download one of the free study apps to practice on your phone. Range, clarity, and user community is much better than CB. Radios can get confusing to buy, ask around your local SAR/ARES/RACES/skywarn clubs, you...
