    Airbags

I have the Airlift 5000 Ultimates with the wireless compressor. It's great for towing but it absolutely limits suspension travel for offroading and is far more harsh on the road. This was accepted by me to make towing my camper safer and more enjoyable. I also tow a heavy enclosed gear...

    Bluetooth speaker for overland travel.

I've used a few from Exogear and really like them. Here is the bigger one I have: I also have 2 smaller ones. I've used them for years and they work great, they really hold a good charge and sound good considering their water resistance and size.

    On trail/camp Solar power?

Wind turbine would be very interesting. Here in Michigan the solar options don't work the best, I get really low wattage compared to what my panels are capable of. I still have my solar system however it's a back up.

The Quest for the Best Knife.

This has nothing to do with the brand and everything to do with the steel that was used. Benchmade offers knives in both Stainless and High Carbon. Stainless is more difficult to sharpen but won't rust as fast, hi carbon steel is easy to sharpen but rusts faster than stainless. It's all...

    Vehicle Electrical Distribution

The SPOD is far from just a power distribution system as I stated before. Once you add up the cost of all the things it does if purchased separately it's not that crazy.

Big wheels small tires or small wheels big tires?

I call those "Bro trucks" which are all show and no go driven by guys who in their middle ages still shop at the buckle. Usually they can be spotted by their sequined jeans and reversed trucker hats. For offroading I like the smallest rim that will clear my calipers which these days will...

Offroad map & compass navigation WITHOUT gps

Check with your local search and rescue team which are often times tied in with the sheriff’s dept. you’ll find USNG the most popular with UTM following, MGRS and lat/long not so popular. You’ll also find 1:24,000 far more common using WGS 84

    Vehicle Electrical Distribution

I have an SPOD on my Jeep LJ and my F150. I love them and their customer service is top notch. Besides power distribution they work as circuit breakers and auto shut down to save your battery. You also don’t need to have the vehicle on or on acc mode to run the spod.

    Come Along?

I use a more power puller with synthetic line as my winch, I use it for sawyer work as well. The thing is freaking amazing. I’ve seen many basic come alongside fail so I’d spend the money on a good one.

    Chain Saws

Once you read the boot camp thread and want to pick up a saw consider local parts availability. Husqvarna and Stihl are first picks for me(Stihl my favorite) and Echo a 3rd. Most brands will have a homeowner, pro sumer, and professional line. You get what you pay for and I consider a chainsaw...

    2015 Overland/SAR F150

I put together an on board air set up. I used a fat .50 ammo can that I cleaned the stencil off with acetone, and ARB compressor, compressor kit, 10 gauge wire, alligator clips, and Anderson power pole connectors. I don't have room under my hood and I don't want to mount it in the cab or bed...

    WJ + sPOD?

I’ve owned 2 different Spods. The first gen on my Jeep LJ and the SE with touch screen on my current F150. These rock and what’s better is the customer service is killer. ARB makes great stuff but I’d recommend the spod for sure.

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

The Aluboxes are freaking awesome but they don’t come cheap. I’ve fought many totes for years and nothing lasts or they don’t seal. Surplus hardiggs have too much wasted space and pelican’s are heavy. I landed on Aluboxes from http://www.equipt1.com/c/aluminum-cases The waterproof seal is...

    2015 Overland/SAR F150

That’s awesome! I am all for tech and new gadgets but this lantern and stove works every single time with close to zero maintenance. Show that lantern off when it’s rebuilt!

    Portable power packs

I have used Goal Zero Yeti 1200s in the disaster space for years and love them, personally I have a Yeti 400 and a couple of their hand held back ups. Can you make your own way cheaper? Yes. Will it be as reliable and work as good.....questionable. Not doubting anyone’s skill at all and I...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Ham/cell hard mount so I can stop messing with the suction cups. Icom speaker mounted on drivers side of center stack. Reconfigured my builtright industries bed organizers to hold a Rogue tools fire hoe, high lift, hatchet, shovel, fire extinguisher, IFAK, air tools, etc. Rebuilt the second...

    2015 Overland/SAR F150

Mounted my external speaker and RAM mounts double ball to hold my cell phone and HAM head unit. No more suction cups! I made a different divider as the 2x10 was just too big and wouldn’t allow my shiftpod to pass under it. I added a full length shovel, rogue tools fire hoe, and my high lift...
