    1999 Land Rover Discovery issues????

@firecraft13 ask your questions here - it is a dedicated Land rover forum you will get a better set of answers Discovery II - Land Rover Forums - Land Rover Enthusiast Forum But to answer your questions : Is there anything I should check that would be an absolute no deal? Rust - in the rear...

    Orienteering by hand?

As noted a good compass, good maps of an appropriate scale. On foot and vehicle are pretty different experiences. As I predate military use of GPS everything we did was map and compass, once you get the hang of it it is simple enough, although many people struggle with tracking distance and...

Camping in and around dry riverbeds

Just want to say river beds in general are a bad idea, there are times of the year in some places where you can get away with it, but generally I avoid it. Not saying I have not done it, but the above shows the possible bad outcomes.

The Lr4's look pretty nice when they are well setup, this belongs to a member of our club it is a very nice build. Although he misjudged in the second image and needed a little tug backwards.

    RTT or pop-up camper Question

The Chinese diesel heaters need some tweaking, but work well once they are setup. As noted no fumes and very hot, you should have a battery shut off installed as a safety for your battery as they can draw down a fair bit if running for along period. Here is a link to a Discovery forum I am on...

    Cleaned up after winter storm

The Discovery is fine, the RTT appears fine. My tree aims better than a Stormtrooper 2 hits out of 4 tries. Sorry for the fuzzy pictures I did not let the camera adjust to the temps

    Can I waterproof my RTT?

Depends on the tent material what you use, I used Nikwax product on my Tepui when I got it, but it was used. If it is wet when you get home you need to set it up, I throw a little ceramic space heater in mine in the driveway to chase moisture out. If you are lucky you can tilt the mattress...

    Kovea portable butane heater

@OnlyTaco you will run into condensation issues, how bad depends on the humidity. Up here the PNW it could be significant other places less so. I use mine only outside to keep me warmer while making breakfast or in the evening when reading if fires are banned.

Ways to Keep Warm in Your RTT

Diesel if you do a lot of cold weather camping, all the propane ones toss a huge amount of condensation if you run them, which can lead to ice inside or moisture issues. There are lots of YT videos on setting them up, and the nice thing is it is a furnace so warm air only no combustion...

How do you Shower Outdoors without Poluting

Mostly as said above and take it easy on the soap, in most cases a quick wipe down with a cloth and warm/hot water is enough. And use soap only where needed, small amounts into the ground are not an issue.

I think it is very regional up here in BC pretty much VHF or some form of FRS. CB is long dead

Too Much Information will destroy what we do.

@genocache interesting the line below, our Land Rover group is getting up to 16-20 trucks a trip and we think that is too many. It is hard to get the group going after breaks and it makes break spots and camp sites with enough space difficult to find. Enough so that we are considering breaking...

Too Much Information will destroy what we do.

It is funny I still carry paper map books with me, even though I have trails on my GPS, I often on roads that do not show up. it is nice to grab the coordinates and see where the road "might" go.

    Full-time

Hard to say people do spend several years traveling the world that way, but unlike most of the lower 48 in the US what you call boondocking or dispersed camping is possible everywhere. The biggest issues I can see : Income but I assume you have that somewhat sorted Where to stay - my point...
