The 15 watt works great even with the stock supplied antenna in group settings. If power and weather are very important to you buy the 40 watt and a $30 baofeng. Since I live in AZ, the weather channel isn't really a concern for me. I do have weather on my cell phone, Baofeng if needed and the...
That looks like a very nice truck. Congrats on the purchase. I am glad to see something else compete against the Tacoma. Yes, I drive a Toyota but I like to see variety on the trails because we all know that it is the driver that makes the vehicle capable or not.
That is much more doable when it is dry. The slippery rocks and deep holes weren’t filled in until after Craig and I went over it. Then we filled in the deep stuff and I pulled the Explorer over it.
I wanted to see you Trooper in action and we got spread out too far apart. I feel sorry for the new blue 4 door Jeep as the vehicle in front of them did not help spot or pull them over obstacles. Those last couple of obstacles really slowed the group down and it wouldn’t have happened if the guy...
I concur. I enjoyed the run. A smaller group would have been nicer as I didn’t get to see your vehicles in action. Thank you for coming out and joining me today. Looking forward to riding with you guys again in the future.
Really, I did not know that it came with nothing. Dang, use a 19" 3db magnetic mount antenna when I am not on the Baofeng, otherwise I just use the stock 6" one that came with my 115.
You can always use the stock 6" antenna that the Midland comes with. Not the best antenna, but Midland thinks it's descent or they would not provide it with the radio, am I right? I am sure that they would not want to have something inferior come in the package that could potentially give their...
This will be my first trip with OTR, myself. I have a handheld radio that you can use if you would like. I am sure there will be others with cb radios. Will you be starting out at the Fry’s with us?
Are you going to CK with the On The Rocks Facebook group? Meet/headout at 9am from Peoria. I will keep an eye out for your Trooper. I will be in a 3rd gen 4Runner. What type of comms are you running? This weekend's group will be using ham 151.820 and I will have my GMRS radio on and set to...
This sounds fun, count me in. I just passed my Technician's test last Saturday and I want to get my UV5R setup like the rest of you. Todd, can you do that with my radio, too? Weekends are usually the best for me. Can we make the meet up central to where we all live?
Is anyone going on this...
Any tablet or phone with gps will work for you and you do not need to have it activated for cellular service. I use a tablet that I purchased 4 years ago and have not turned the cell service on and it works just fine.
I have a Midland GMRS radio installed in the 4runner and a hand held Motorola GMRS radio for other to use when we are trail riding. I have the same problem with the group that I usually ride with - cb, ham, frs, gmrs, honk the horn, flash the lights, etc.. It is hard to get everyone on the same...
DIY's are where it's at.. I have made a couple of mods for my 4Runner. I made a tablet mount that takes up no extra room and my tablet just slides down into it - perfect for my Gaia App. The next was the dual mirror camera setup. Plus, I built a small table that flips out of the way to use when...
