    Warn, Smittybilt or something else?

IP68, yes waterproof. I ordered the 12K/lb X2O Gen2 Comp which is equipped with synthetic line, looks like a good value, we'll see.

    Warn, Smittybilt or something else?

More than anything I don't want the weight of wire rope, there are definitely pros and cons of both. In the end synthetic cost me $100 more than the best deal I could find on wire. This truck is not going "wheeling and crawling", the winch is about being a long way from help and needing some.

    Warn, Smittybilt or something else?

I pulled the trigger on the Smittybilt #98512 X2O Gen2 Comp, 98.5' synthetic rope,wireless/wired remote, waterproof, Hawse type fairlead, shipped $577 plus sales tax, so $624 It's got $200 worth of rope on it, if it's not shit it's a damn good deal. We'll see. On to mounts, thanks for the input

    Warn, Smittybilt or something else?

Depends on whose relative owns the shell company that is providing it. But then, oh nevermind

    Warn, Smittybilt or something else?

Yeah, pixies have to come up for air, Chinese pixies probably more so.

    Warn, Smittybilt or something else?

Correct, hence the secondary line in the event a suitable anchor is not in reach.

    Warn, Smittybilt or something else?

I've resigned myself to a 12k regardless the brand. Gladiator loaded up will be 6k and Opus loaded up will be 4k. I'llnitely have a block and secondary line.

    Warn, Smittybilt or something else?

I kind of expect that, and that's OK too. Honestly I expected to find a "big thread o'winches" stickied but I did not. I'm not scared of spending money, nor am I averse to looking at details. But I also don't want to just pile up money and burn it either. I think Warn is a known entity, and...

    Warn, Smittybilt or something else?

I need a winch for the front of the Gladiator, and will be mounting it in a factory steel winch capable bumper. I have a predisposition to Warn, I've just never heard anything bad about them. At the same time, I haven't heard anything bad about Smittybilt winches and they come at a more...

    Running out of toilet paper

I've got a bottle of Y2K champagne in the cabinet, I never could figure out when to drink it so I didn't.

    General Tire Grabber ATX's

I have them on a Ram 2500 4x4, LT275/70R18. Pro's: Crazy traction, best of any "all terrain" tire I've ever owned, outstanding in the rain at highway speeds, I cant say enough about traction Reasonably quiet Very smooth ride, even at 75psi They are wider than competitive models on the tread...

    Winch Security

Scalping is going to come back into fashion one of these days, for reasons just like that. My experience says that people commonly engaged in outdoor activities are far better custodians of the environment, than your average run of the mill "environmentalist" Take a look around after an...

Thinking of buying a AIR OPUS

I'm with you, I well understand the value of A/C, I promise. I am struggling with this decision personally for a couple of reasons. One is I somewhat doubt the efficiency of the unit in what is effectively a tent, and two though I will have a generator I really don't want to have to run one...

Thinking of buying a AIR OPUS

The A/C will only work on shore power or generator in case you didn't know. The 4 sleeper has much more room in the "living area" than the 2 sleeper.

Thinking of buying a AIR OPUS

I have pretty much decided to order a 4 sleeper with the annex. What I haven't decided on is if I want the A/C-Heat or just the heat. Things I notice they gouge pretty heavily on are the on demand hot water heater, and cartridge toilet, I'll source those independently. They are making a...
