Overlanding for cheaper than your cousin's brother in law builds

That Firestone Radial ATX is very likely to be one of the recalled 14 million or so they produced. Regardless of that it is waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy too old to even consider using. Save the weight and throw it away or replace it with a much newer tire.

    Let’s talk Coolers:

Yeah I don't know, but it looks like if you can find it at all, by slowing the exchange rate using ice packs would serve both masters and get it done. I would think more space efficient than ice

    Let’s talk Coolers:

How about putting the dry ice in your food cooler(s), and insulate around it with blue ice packs forming a nucleus of cold without burning the food? If you can source the dry ice in uniform size pieces(?) you could glue up the blue ice packs to take the dry ice insert.

    Let’s talk Coolers:

Hmmmm, maybe use two coolers. Put dry ice in one and use it to condition blue ice packs for the one you are using for food and rotate the packs in/out as needed.. The Yeti, RTIC, Igloo, etc. roto-molded coolers all work well, but they are extremely inefficient from a space consideration. I...

    Legal Weapons and Overlanding

Just yesterday a gunman walked into a church in Ft. Worth and opened fire. Six seconds later he was dead, killed by armed members of the church. "Takes bigger balls not to carry" PPPffffttttt

    Lift kit question

I installed the 2" Mopar on my 2020 Gladiator yesterday, in my driveway by myself. Everything about it fits like it is OEM, because it is, I like that. Absolutely would buy again. Here is yours: $1201.

I’m between a New Rebel or an older Raptor

There is no 2019 Gladiator, the first model year for the JT is 2020

I’m between a New Rebel or an older Raptor

LOL, GM has been completely unable to rectify the "one functioning fog lamp" issue for about 20 years. I don't think they realize how that discourages potential buyers.

PSA for those who may not know...Tow balls are NOT recovery points!

Take some of the Chinese shackles to a local rigging shop and ask to have them pull tested, very likely they will decline. Will they fail winching out a Jeep? Very unlikely. Will you find lifting professionals using Chinese shackles? Negative, definitely not after the first claim on their lift...

PSA for those who may not know...Tow balls are NOT recovery points!

I agree with you entirely about using a ball for a kinetic recovery. "The Chinaman" is a euphemism, for cheap mass produced (in China) garbage. It's a real thing. I retired from an industry that was flooded with reverse engineered garbage that met "USDOT" requirements, meaning the Chinese...

I’m between a New Rebel or an older Raptor

I have had good service from Ram/FCA, it would be a no brainer for me. If the Raptor was a year old and had 19k miles on it I might reconsider.

PSA for those who may not know...Tow balls are NOT recovery points!

Don't be naive, the Chinaman will substitute any and every kind of garbage component during manufacture. They are getting better, NDT analysis in knife blade steels however still return alloy assays that don't fit any particular known alloy. Blade steel will betray shit alloys pretty quickly...

    Faux overlander

Some of the most expensive components are also the most visible components. Some of those are also the least used (traction boards) or least susceptible to wear and tear (tent covers) and then there is always people who don't beat on their shit. People with limited funds or long term plans may...

Steel winch cable vs synthetic rope

"How do you guys deal with people who do this ? " The same way I do when I see my CPA in full leathers wearing a Punisher tee shirt. It neither picks my pocket, nor breaks my leg.
