For the first couple days, baby wipes. After that, a bird bath with warm water and wash cloth, maybe a dip in a lake or river. Still need to look into a longer term shower solution though.
I generally go travelling to get away from communicating with people. But I grudgingly own a cell phone, and have a CB for when I'm on organized trail runs.
Got in on the Expedition One GB and finally caved on a rear bumper/tire carrier. The stock bumper is looking pretty ratty with the wings broken off. Just waiting for delivery.
A buddy back home used one of those for a hunting rig back in the mid 90's. With a decent set of tires and some good driving, we went a lot of interesting places with that thing.
Got a 15.5 Delta hybrid last year, finally got a chance to take it paddling down the Little Saskatchewan river. Just a solo trip so not much for pictures, but it was a nice day for about 5 hours of paddling. Averaging about 8km/h at a casual pace down river.
Not really a myth, you have to look at the context. If you are humping 80lbs of gear all day, conducting section attacks, generally sweating your"bag" off, then crawl into your sleeping bag in your sweaty gear, you will freeze. Especially up here in the GWN. We don't really get the chance to...
What are you looking for? I just did most of the north and west for the long weekend. Riding Mountain National Park just north of Brandon is nice around Clear lake. Farther northwest is Duck Mountain Provincial Park. Blue lake has been recommended by a bunch of people, but haven't made it there...
No affiliation, but check out WildCoast Tents based in Nova Scotia. I know a few guys that have them up here, and they all like them. Good price, and includes annex w floor.
Once I started wheeling a bit, it made sense to do my own. I am confident fixing almost everything not inside the engine or transmission. I had to take my wheel hub to a shop to get them to press out the old bearing and put in the new bearing. Cost me about $130 for the part and for the shop...
A great part of military life is being posted places you wouldn't normally choose to live. So, Me the wife and a buddy decided to make the best of it and do a bit of a road trip/expedition for the long weekend. 4.5 days/200o km in the vehicle, 28 km by foot(on purpose).
Did some roadside lake...
I did a Labrador and Newfoundland trip in 2013. I didn't see it mentioned, but Cape Spear is the most eastern point in North America, worth checking out just south east of St Johns. If you are heading farther up, there is a really cool drive-on beach in Lumsden, Twillingate is a cool historic...
I get crown rust proofing every other year, and did on my previous GM pickup. It was easy to see the difference between my vehicles and the ones that didn't.
Been diving since 93, couple times per year, mostly vacation dives. I only have snorkel gear that I bring, and then usually rent the rest. I don't do it enough to be worth the big investment.
I figured you probably knew what you were doing with the Ham and all, just thought I'd ask. Thought grounding the LED driver or the light pod itself might prevent some of the spurious emissions. Also, just thinking all our army trucks are religiously grounded to frame, antenna mounts...
