Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I’ve upgraded my Tepui Autana 3 with the Tepui “luxury” mattress it’s better but simply not thick enough to solve my comfort issues. Simply adding my old backpacking 2” thermarest below made a huge improvement. I plan to buy the thickest Thermarest or Exped in the spring to fit a new Autana 4...
There are a bunch of lunette hitch locks available pick one and install it. Beyond that I’m not sure it’s worth loosing more sleep over. If a thief wants it, they will find a way around most anything.
I did the fog light kit on my wife’s 2017 Impreza last summer. Even the squadron sports are too bright for oncoming traffic IMHO. In many ways there are brighter than the Impreza’s high beams. But perfect for spotting deer or other animals on our county roads. They were a great upgrade...
I have a Stihl msa 200 battery saw. It’s fantasitc for basic trail maintenance. Had it on a 4 day trip this spring and it handled that on a single charge. As a tool for just in case we encounter a blocked trail it’s great. If you know your going to find many obstacles then it’s better to have a...
I’ve been running a Ruggedized Autana for 2.5 yrs (I’m a Tepui dealer). While it is a very good tent, it is heavy. Something to consider depending on the vehicle it will be mounted to and who you have to help install and un-install. Buying a standard tent will save some weight. You can add the...
I just use standard Yakima round bar clamps. I built my rack with 1.125” tubing so all Yakima stuff would be compatible. The bolts can however be challenging to line up solo.
My son has an older version of the Mountain Hardwear bag linked below. We are generally camping at altitude so warmth can be an issue. We also wanted something compressible enough for backpacking use. It has been a great bag for him. Easy to care for and good quality. We keep a down comforter...
Is that your only option for carrying a full size spare? Every receiver mounted swing out I’ve seen has reduced the departure angle so much that I would look for any other option personally.
Little late to post as you’ve probably already returned from your trip. But anyone who is this worked up about bears should probably choose a different place to vacation. Sounds like your concern about bear activity may interfer with your enjoyment of your trip. In 20+ years of living in the...
Should be fine, just use common sense. I would not use it to pull at 90° as it was not really designed for that kind of force vector. And I second just putting the strap into the receiver and run the pin through it. Put the receiver d-ring money towards some Maxtrax or other recovery gear.
