Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
OK, so instead of starting another thread and retagging and resubscribing and all that jazz, we're already here so lets get to work on June's meetup.
Anyone got anything in mind they'd like to do? Trails to check out or restaurants to share with the group?
Shorts, maybe at t-shirt. I learned my lesson on layering in a sleeping bag. Your body heat can't get to the bag to start it insulating properly. Coldest I've been in so far is high teens, low twenties *F and I don't care to be in much colder.
Careful, @Chris Jones will rope you into spearheading your local meet-ups! Haha Na, if you're wanting to get one going he's good to help with ideas. You can check into the three Virginia meet-ups that are happening this month for ideas on how to get things going and use the map to message guys...
I'm not sure about trails but there are plenty of forest service roads along the Blue Ridge Parkway you can ride. There are some near Charlottesville that I've never been on myself that meet-up with the Parkway as well, maybe someone can chime in with more info about them.
Did the thunder ever die down? We've been slowly unloading today and drying everything out. We're going to have to hose off the tent here in a bit where that rush came down under it.
It was really great meeting you guys! The wife and I were discussing coming back later this summer and trying...
Attended the Western Virginia meet-up and thanks to a stalled out thunderstorm, got practice in setting up and breaking camp. Oh well, there's always next time!
Well, I think we had a successful meet-up! J (ylojelo), Dwayne (shokilla), Comer (smalldog) and my crew met up for some good BBQ in Buena Vista then spent several hours riding around in the area. Never found a reason to put it in 4wd but we found some neat places I want to go check out again...
I called JJ's this evening and the lady who answered the phone said outside, pet friendly seating for around 11 people would be no problem!
I'm looking forward to seeing/meeting everyone tomorrow! I stuck my CB in the Xterra this evening and checked it out so I'll be monitoring CH4 on there...
I got one of the 72s back in December after a friend highly recommended it. It's physically larger than I had expected but the extra space over the 50 is really appreciated with 5 of us to carry food for.
I've been considering one of the 26s for more everyday use as well. I also have a 20oz...
I have not called Chris but I was going to try to this evening. I'll check on a table outside and see what they have. I can't remember how much outdoor seating there was there but I'm hoping we're going to get there early enough to have the run of the place.
It's on the long list of things I want! Right now sliders and better skids are more important though. Hoping to get the sliders this summer, skids this winter and a rear bumper next summer. Being on a budget makes things go so slow...
Last weekend I bought a 5th matching wheel for the Xterra and yesterday after work I had the tire mounted pin it and it's under the Xterra now. I'll move it into rotation after this weekend's meet-up.
I use Bosch Icon blades. I easily get 3-4 years from a set of them with just a little care taken in the winter when there's snow frozen to the windshield. I also use RainX de-icing bug wash washer fluid year round as well and that helps some as well I believe.
