  • Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

Reasons to have a arb bumper

Glad you weren't hurt and I'm sorry about the truck, but it can be replaced easy enough, not like an eye or arm.

    Maintenance... how meticulous are you?

I've got a buddy who works at a Chevy garage and he's told me that about the newer DoD engines. I have to admit I'm a little concerned about the amount of things beginning to give issue with our 13 Malibu at 100k miles. One cam phasing solenoid and the high pressure fuel pump so far, but...

Street Tire PSI When Off Road

I have the Cooper Discoverer LSX (NTB only tire) in 265/70/16 and they are designed for 45psi for max loading, but doing the chalk test showed that for everyday use, 35psi gets the whole tread in contact with the road to prevent unusual wear. When I load it for a trip, I'll do the test again and...

    Maintenance... how meticulous are you?

The 89 Cavalier my dad bought new got an oil change twice a year with no eye on mileage. Havoline 10w30 and an AC Delco filter. It did 232k hard miles before it was sold in 2007. The 93 S10 he bought new did 213k miles of DD and farm duty with the same oil change interval before it was sold...

    Maintenance... how meticulous are you?

I usually go with recommended intervals from the manual. I figure the manufactures know what they built and if there is a severe use listing, I'll go with it. For stop and go traffic or towing, there is usually a different interval for vehicles. Usually about 5k on Valvoline MaxLife motor...

    Communications for the Beginner

The 102" on my K5 has hit people in the back seat on the trail and left welts. I will not run the spring with one again, I'll use a 6" spacer the way I did on my XJ.

    Communications for the Beginner

I was just suggesting that the titles of threads like this should be "What do I need to know about comms in the UK?" vs generic titles like "what do I need to know about comms?" There is a lot of good info, but we also have half a dozen beginner comms threads and I know nothing of comms in...

    Communications for the Beginner

@Joedie To get information that will apply more to you, you might consider putting the country/region where you are in the title so only those with info that you can use would post. This would also be good so in the future when someone is wanting to travel to Japan, they could easily search for...

    Communications for the Beginner

The radio looks good to me, seems similar to a mid range Cobra here in the states. I don't like any CB antenna except the true quarter-wave 102" stainless whip. People complain about the size till I get them to try one and then they are hooked on it as well. I'm not a fan of the big coil at...

    TYT TH-9800

I thought I'd start a thread about this little radio as I get acquainted with it. I've read a lot of the reviews, both positive and negative online and I'm sure my opinion is worth the price of admission, but I thought I'd share it just the same. I picked this radio up used from a friend who...

    Communications for the Beginner

I'm a communication freak. There, that's out of the way! I'm planning on having a dual band Ham radio, a HF +6m Ham radio, and a CB in my rig. That's not just for trail coms though, I enjoy doing portable work and having the ability to do EMCOM if need be such as Winlink E-mail and digital...

    Shopping for a Rubicon

I'm getting close to just keeping the Xterra. I've had no interest in the K5 and only super low ball offers on the Xterra and if I'm honest, I'm really liking not making payments right now. My wife is going to school and once she graduates and gets a little experience, funds will be freed up...

The Quest for the Best Knife.

I carry a Kershaw Ken Onion Blur in my pocket and have a Benchmade Bushcrafter I carry as well when I'm around camp. I'm a sucker for the S30V steel. I have a few cheap kitchen knifes in the mess box but I'd hate to have to do much more than food prep with them.

    CB signal

Ok, so it looks like you need to tune the antenna. The reduced number of bars usually indicates folding back power because of a mismatch in the antenna system or bad ground. One bar on RX, if you aren't near any noise, could be ok or it could mean you don't have a good ground for the antenna...
