Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I ponied up for the license last week. A buddy gave me a pair of Motorola radios and I gave them to the kids to use when we went for a little hike/drive yesterday. They really enjoyed playing with them but they spent a bunch of time keyed up on top of each other.
They'll get it figured out.
After church we loaded up the kids and headed up the mountain to Bath county. We just needed to go for a ride and there were some areas up that way we wanted to look into for camping this summer. We found a little camp ground and also this little dispersed site we want to hit for a weekend sometime.
I grew up going to Tweetsie RR. We take the kids there occasionally but my mom never had any interest in camping so we never really explored the area. I'm lucky that my wife grew up camping and I picked up the bug in college, going on off-roading trips with the local 4wd clubs.
Thanks for all...
We're still working on how to pull this off. My wife has applied for some internships for the summer and if she gets one of them, then this trip may be canceled this year or it may be just me and the kids out there for a few days. We've talked about just trying to focus on the eastern section of...
I just ordered a u-bolt flip kit for the Xterra. This should be the last of the parts I need to lift it. When warm weather gets here, I should be ready to spend a few weekends wrenching on it!
Fixed bagel bites on my 414 Powerhouse two burner this evening. It was my first time using the oven though. I think they turned out quite good though. It started getting dark so I decided to fire my 50s 228E lantern to provide the light to cook by as well.
It'll take more practice to get them...
My wife currently has a 2013 Malibu LT. It will haul all 5 of us on trips and still get 30mpg. It's a very nice car. After she gets out of school, we've talked about getting her a small SUV/Crossover of some sort to drive to work since she'll probably have a good commute to get to work.
The most I've paid for a Coleman gas stove yet is $25 for my three burner and $5 of that was to buy the guys who grabbed it for me a beer. I even managed to grab an old Sears for $5 (1970 model) that just needed the pump cup oiled and it ran! I've used it a couple times camping. Be patient and...
I would say to start with whatever you already have. When you find yourself being turned around by what's on your path, then you can make the decision to go bigger or you might decide those are places you don't need to go. The best way to decide what you need is to take what you have out and...
I don't cook much at home. My wife handles the grocery list and meal plans there and she has a system down for most of the meals she plans. I'm good enough to step in and fix what she planned for the night if need be though.
I play on the grill though. I try different things and methods. I have...
I added some traction tape to my sliders on the Xterra. When I was installing my roof basket last weekend, I kept slipping on them and I figured it was probably time before I hurt myself putting gear up there.
That's an ambitious plan! I'm west of Shenandoah in the George Washington National Forest. I did a two day trip last year just driving to Harrisonburg, Va. But again, that's just the types of road I picked to drive.
We did a trip to DC as well. We spent two days there with friends, drove to...
The fact of the matter is that you can't make a good living working on cars. That's what drove me into industrial maintenance.
I'm slowly getting back to doing it myself. My Dad was an ASE mechanic and GM certified in the 80s and a motor head to boot. I grew up under hoods of hot rods and drag...
As for a specific vehicle, I have no direct recommendations. Here is my line of thought though:
I had a nice Cherokee several years ago. It had a mild lift, regeared slightly and it worked well off-road. I loved that thing. However, it drove like a lifted Jeep. It bobbed and weaved on the...
I've never been able to get work done that I was satisfied with. I decided to pay Nissan to do my timing chain service last year. They missed a tooth on the timing chain the first go round and it was throwing phasing codes. Took it back and they half-asses the fix and now it leaks and looks like...
