Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I've never owned a radio with the factory power leads so the same could be said for me. :grinning: I was just trying to caution against long runs of unprotected wires under the hood.
Man that looks good. I never got to smoke a brisket this year. Just too busy to make time for it. I didn't even fire my OK Joe offset the first time. I did figure out buts on my little vertical though. That I could manage while I was doing other projects.
One issue with this is that most leads are only fused near the radio. I personally think that having a fuse near the battery is safer since wire routing can be iffy sometimes. That way if you rub through the power wire going through the firewall, it'll pop the fuse at the battery and not turn...
Ok. Not sure about GMRS but I doubt it transfers. Ham, you have to get written permission from the telecoms commission in question (FCC in USA) to operate in that country I believe and might be issued a call sign for use in that country or amend your call to represent location /V* or V**/your call
That's very interesting. I honestly didn't look much further into that aspect of it once I saw the 400 had a data port. I probably should have checked into it but packet isn't really a big thing in this area. I had interest in using it with RMS Express for e-mail. It looks like my SingaLink USB...
I'm going to bump this up.
For those of you who are ARRL members, QST had a neat article in it for December on modern APRS capable radios being able to decode frequency and repeater info in your APRS text and automatically setting your radio to that. It was a nice read and I'm looking forward...
I'M BACK ON HF BABY! The girls helped me put up a new 5 band dipole. It'll actually work on 6 bands since 15m is an odd harmonic of 40m. 80-40-20-15-10-6 and whatever else my LDG tuner will eat.
Gonna play with it some tonight I hope.
Instead of just a wire, you should probably use a flat strap. You should also put a couple straps from the rack to the top of your vehicle to tie it together electrically.
This is a great example of how to use roof rack mounted antennas...
Both can get pretty crowded because of the amount of folks who know about it. The trail from Switzer Lake to the top of the mountain has one kinda rough spot but if you swing wide left, you'll miss most of it. There's also a water hole near the top that can get pretty deep when it's been...
Well, I just clicked order. Not sure when it'll arrive. I've already sold my IC-2100H to a buddy to help fund this purchase. I've got to examine the herd and see if there's any other radios I'm willing to let go of at this time as well.
For those who are Hams or are interested in becoming one, Frost Fest is coming up the first weekend in February. I'll be heading down for the day myself. There are test sessions going on throughout the day and there will be good deals to be had on all sorts of mobile and HT radios...
Looks like you have most of the good stuff covered from H-Burg south from what I know of that area. I would like to spend some more time exploring up there this summer myself. Are you familiar with Flag Pole knob and the Union Springs trail?
There's actually not anything going on after our net from what Will has said so we could probably double check that and go another round of we wanted.
It was a great net Ed!
If anyone is interested in trying their hand at net control, we have an open spot next week! Just message me and we'll...
This x1000!
I know these little radios are infuriating to program by hand, but please learn how. You never know when you'll find yourself needing to add or alter a repeater or frequency.
I usually play with mine on trips, pulling up repeater book in my phone and just seeing which one's I can...
These should work good for you! You could even just get one and cut it in half and re-terminate it if you don't have a supply of braid.

They work good to tie things like swing out tire carriers with antenna mounts back to the bumper and the...
