Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I've got a Celestron something or other. Needs to be plugged in, but I can buy a battery pack for it. It's pretty good for most things, I believe it's a 6". However it is very shaky which is frustrating. I bought it about 10 years ago, so it's probably time to see what else is out there.
Watched the videos on YouTube over the last couple of weeks. Really enjoyed following along on the build, and really made me want a trailer! Nice work Cappy!
I got the approval to do a dual battery system. After doing some research, I ended up going with the 200 amp kit from Genesis Offroad. I was going to do the 85 amp kit, but they said to go the size of the alternator, and even though they say that they're way overrated, my alternator is 160 amp...
Glad they FINALLY took care of you! It's ridiculous that it had to come to that, but at least it worked out in the end. I like the white (I used to have a white one). You're still making me want that roof rack though!
How high up does the AT rack go? Is that as high as it goes? Could you do me a huge favor and measure how much room is below it? Eventually I'm planning on adding the Goose Gear rear bit, and was hoping to put that rack above it to help with some storage.
Thanks
Ordered a 2013 JKU Sport the first day orders were available. Loved it, however it didn't have everything I wanted, and I didn't have the means to go and buy lockers etc. for it. Also everything I've read is that with the D30 up front, you want to leave it open as they are weak. I ended up...
Took an astronomy class in college, and bought a telescope about 10 years ago. I'd like to find one that packs a little smaller, and is more camera friendly however. Also just bought a "course" from The Great Courses on astronomy. One of my loves, but living in a metropolitan area makes it...
I use
Samsung Galaxy Note 5
GoPro Hero 4 Silver
Nikon CoolPix S6200
Nikon D5500 w/ kit lens
Still working on getting used to the D5500, but plan on using it a lot more this year. Looking for a couple different lenses for it too. I want to get into astrophotography more, and get something that...
Every time I see a Gobi rack I want one. Too bad I can pull the trigger on it yet. Have you noticed any change in MPG? A buddy of mine has one and said he lost 1 MPG, so just curious if it was him, or if that's kind of a general rule of thumb.
I did read through the thread, but it's been a couple of days. I apologize for asking. Would you say that the sole is too stiff to feel the pedal then? That's my biggest concern as I stated.
I went manual in my two JKs because it was less expensive. A bonus was that I pay more attention in traffic, and especially offroad. Any future vehicle however will be auto because my knees aren't big fans of the manuals.
I've got an Adventure Medical Kits Mountain Kit. More than I know what to use in it (need to take some first aid classes), but it's fairly comprehensive, and packs pretty small. Stays in the Jeep year round.
I'll echo some of what was said here. The times we've camped in bear country we haven't had any issues keeping the cooler/fridge and other food in the vehicle. However when we've left coolers outside we've had raccoons get into them.
Like @BillyBadly mentioned, if you're in bear country and are...
I run the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 with Back Country Navigator Pro. Planning on getting Torque as well to monitor stats of the vehicle. It's ran off a RAM mount attached to a bar that goes across my dash. Don't have any pics with me, but there should be a couple in my build thread.
I'm looking at getting a pair of Danner Mountain Light IIs. Anyone have any experience with them? My biggest thing is I need to be able to feel the pedals (manual transmission), and there are no places around me that carry my size unfortunately. I like that they're rebuildable, so my plan is to...
