  • Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

@Neal A. Tew I believe he is talking about the new “return north” preject of the TAT and the SoR connector between the two.

Earliest Recommended Time to Visit Ouray Area to Access Most Trails

By mid July 2019 there was only one through pass open, others opened by the end of July. There was a lot of late season snow and 100 year avalanche activity. Most folks here shoot for mid-late July for higher mountain passes.

If you are referring to an OHV pass, Tincup Pass Rd does not require one. If you take the “old” Tincup Pass Rd (267.3d) that short section does require the pass, but it not necessary to do the pass (both sections divide and meet back up on same road). Options are always good.

Ardie and I plan on being there, two members one rig. Hopefully late enough in June to have Tincup and others open.

Part 90 only applies to the Public Safety, Industrial/Business Radio Pool, and Radiolocation Radio Services. We are discussing part 95 and part 97... I think ;-) Anyway, you are on the right track and avoiding the food-fight! Hope your testing goes well!!! KD0VGV out

I believe the only issue would be keeping the power level at FCC guidelines for that frequency, which varies within the FRS/GMRS stack. People get hung up on the radio, it is about the licensing and power settings normally. It is a different FCC Part # between commercial and HAM/private. My...

That is great! Both from same company, so should be easy to keep functions straight between systems. The BF-F8HP will be able to talk to the GMRS-V1 also, so you can divide them up or use for spotting, trail walking.

I think meeting at Rudy’s should be a GO regardless. You guys are the lead on this, I was just trying to help out. I think the main objective of an initial meet-up should be priority 1. We could discuss what we want to do in the future at the meet-up? I’m cool with whatever.

Here are my two thoughts: 1) I am NOT a fan of Old Stage or Gold Camp Rd (they are both terrible, but necessary to get to other places) 2) It is in Arvada, but another option is Rocky Mountain Four Wheel Campers and Juniper Overland are having a 4Wheel camper Open House showing some stuff from...

Looks like we may have gotten a few inches up at the FS379 area. I have driven that area many times in snow and it is definitely doable, the only show stopper could be drifting as the forecast shows winds today and 15mph tomorrow. At a minimum we should be able to work into Frosty’s Park area...

Couple of questions. Is the intent to meet at 0900 MDT? The RP says PDT, -7 GMT and we are currently -6 GMT in MDT. I am assuming meet and greet over breakfast, then hit the road? Or are we just meeting at Rudy’s “having had”? Sorry for the confusion and if I missed these details somewhere else...
