    2009 Hummer H3 Alpha

I know at least at one point they didn't make one the fit the rear but a friend mine did use the Bilstein BE5-6248-H5 in the rear of his H3. Check the length as well as the mounting, might need a bar pin eliminator to mount them.

    2009 Hummer H3 Alpha

Sorry, been out of town. The 5100s I am running are longer due to having the lift but let me see if I can find the number of the correct 5100s for the rear.

They are surprisingly capable without but correct, get yourself some lockers and 4:1 low range and you are set.

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

I rented a JK Unlimited out in CA several years back and would never make the switch. Nothing against them for any Jeep owners reading this, just much prefer the H3. In due time you will find a reason for 4 low. Does yours have the adventure package?

Cool, enjoy it. In a few days it will be ten years that I have been driving H3s and still love getting in it. My first one was an '06 in the same color as yours.

Hopefully the weather cooperates. What year and how long have you had it? Post some pics of it when finished. Below is the build thread on mine. http://www.overlandbound.com/forums/index.php?threads/2009-hummer-h3-alpha.766/

    Animal Encounters

I have run across bears, coyotes and boar in the past but they always left the area once they sensed we were around. Used to get bears in my back yard from time to time at my old house but they never stuck around either. Not a predator but on a trip a couple of years ago a friend who was with...

Thanks for the link. Apparently I did see your post before but didn't remember the name. Will have to go back a reread about it.

    Food & Water

Used to use a Coleman Extreme cooler which works great but have since switched to dual battery system and a Dometic fridge. While the extreme was a great cooler I love not having to deal with ice and worrying about things getting soaked in the cooler as it melts on a week long trip. Have not...

How did you find the Overland Bound website?

Believe it was through a mention on FB in one of the overland groups I am a member of.

    Trans-America Trail

I have thought about take a week to start it and see how far I can get leaving time to get back home by the end of the week. Most likely that's the only way I am going to get to do it anytime soon.

Off the grid rally east coast?

Unfortunately my big overland trip for the year is already booked but will be watching this closely. We did a week long trip through the Virginias in '04 and it was great, would love to go back. Writeup on the trip if anybody is interested...

Roof top tent vs ground tent

Yeah, at $4,100 they can keep it but that's the style I will be looking for when the time comes.

Roof top tent vs ground tent

I have see some I like that the annex is an extension out from the tent rather than under the tent so you don't have to have it up high. This is a configuration I would prefer like this Eazi-Awn...
