Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Made it to Monument Valley. What an epic place this is. Camping in one of the few places one can right now. Most of the Navajo Reservation is still shut down because of COVID.
The wind was howling on the way up but calmed down just before dark and it looks to be a nice night.
It has been...
All packed up and almost out the door for our trip. We are going on search of dinosaurs. Plane is to spend the night in an iconic Southwest location North of Phoenix.
Weeks of getting the new rig ready will finally be tested. Rock sliders, roof rack, custom cargo net, ham radio. The focus of...
Packing for a trip. Going looking for Dinasours and Dinasour tracks with my 8-year-old daughter in AZ, CO, and UT. Spending the first night in Monument Valley. Bebopping through Moad and Arches then spending two nights in Dinasour National Monument. Camping down by the Green River.
My Xterra got totaled. So this is my second rig to put a badge on. Getting it ready for its first overland trip next week and had to get this piece of kit on it.
If the fairy is not running down a BullFrog / Halls Crossing we will be driving through Moab on the 31st. We'll be coming up from Monument Valley where we will be camping the night before on our way to Dinasour. Might try to do a quick hook-up to say hello if we do. Do you have a specific...
Wow! Coming out from Nashville. I'm in the Phoenix area so it is just a drive up the road for us. One of our main goals is Dinosaur National Monument. There is some great areas to camp along the Green River and my 8 year old is super in to Dinosaurs right now.

Cool. Also thinking about getting more involved with ARES. So WinLink looks like it might be a good starting point. I have also been seeing a lot about JS8Call so that might be number 2 on the list.
Thanks.
73.
What digital modes are you running? Been thinking of jumping down that rabbit hole but trying to figure out where to start. Winlink, RTTY , FT8CALL and so on?
I think that anyone who wants's to get on HF should upgrade. As a tech I tried to play on the little bit of 10M and 6M that was available to us at that time. It was limited and not all that successful but it also drove me to get my general. Now I really don't hang out on the local repeaters...
I run an Android tablet as well. I use it with APRSdroid liked to Back Country Navigator. This allows me to run topo maps offline and superimpose APRS info over top of the maps. I just hooked up the tablet to a handheld Kenwood with a cable and APRS can transmit over the air and does not need...
