  • Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

Snorkels - More Popular in Australia?

Funny, here in suburban DC, we see a lot of snorkeled mall crawlers, to the point that I decided against putting one on my RRC. If I were out west, or did more trips out west, I might reconsider... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Yakima or ?

So how much utility do you want out of you roof rack? If you never intend to carry much of a load, the Yak is fine. I had a Yak basket on my RRC, but I've upgraded to an ARB w/ steel mesh floor, as my requirements changed. In addition to the extra capacity, I can also stand or sit on top to...

Roof top tent vs ground tent

Check the various overlanding/expedition sites. Used Oz tents pop up all the time. The other thing to try would be to organize a group buy. I don't know what kind of pricing you can get now, but a little more than a year ago, a few friends from another forum were able to get a decent...

Roof top tent vs ground tent

I think an RTT in a trailer would be a good option, but that's substantially more than a fully kitted Oztent RV 4 or 5. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Roof top tent vs ground tent

You can get them for less through a group buy. Used tents will pop up on the various expedition forums. Side panels are nice, but not absolutely needed. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Jump Packs

I've got the Antigravity XP-10 and love it. So much smaller and lighter than my old jump pack. It holds a charge longer as well and it has a variety of connectors so I don't need really need jumper cables. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Roof top tent vs ground tent

I went with an OzTent RV4 because of the quick setup/teardown. Plus, you can leave it as a base camp while you explore without the extra load on top. The base tent comes with a canopy. Side panels are extra, but haven't really had a need for those. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

The Final Land Rover Defender rolled off the production line

Recently, Gerry McGovern and his team have changed their tune and insist the new Defender will be nothing like the DC100. At first blush, this seems to be good news to traditionalists, but he's also been on record about using the new LR design language that is common to the Ejoke, Disco Sport...

    Tire talk

Surprised the Coopers didn't make the OPs list. I love my ST MAXX, the only other tire I'd consider is the STT PRO. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Steve & Deb's Cross-Country Adventure

Are you planning another trip in the spring to pick up your daughter? That would be a good time to hit the northern route. Glacier in Montanta is amazing in the spring. Teddy Roosevelt in ND is also worth driving through. I know you're from Ohio, but coming through the UP of Michigan and...

1989 Range Rover Classic for Maroc Challenge

Not sure if you're aware, the CT RRCs ran 215x85x16s. Cooper Discoverer STT Pros might be worth considering unless your committed to your Michelins. Also, you may want to add fuel pump & filter to your spares list. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Tire talk

I've got the Cooper Discoverer ST/MAXX on my RRC. Aggressive tread & sidewalls, great in snow, dirt & mud, but super quiet on pavement. OC, my Borla exhaust does drown the tire noise, but the ST/MAXX are known to be super quiet. A friend has the STT Pros, which have a more aggressive tread, but...

    Overland Bound in Australia!

If only you could bring that back...2015 is the last production year for the Defender as we've known it for decades. The replacement is a DINO, nothing like the beloved Series/Defender. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Shovel Axe attachment not on a Gobi rack

An alternative to drilling would be to use electrical conduit hangers with Quick Fists.  I've got an ARB rr, and these were perfect for the round tubes, no drilling required.
