What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Technically yesterday, but, I installed a new primary battery. I've also just ordered a new radiator cap and upper/lower hoses.

Most Expensive Thing That You Have Broken

I crashed my brand-new 2016 Ducati Monster 821 the day I bought it. That sucked...Definitely my most expensive oopsie. Overlanding/off-roading specific: Can't really think of an expensive breakage - mostly just maintenance charges.

    Winter or Summer Exploration?

I like getting out in all the seasons but struggle to sleep well at night when the temperatures dip low. I'm really sensitive to the cold at night for whatever reason. That takes some of the enjoyment out of the Winter months for me, but, I still get out on the tracks when I can.

What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

A new air compressor. It's super cute.

    Trasharoo alternative

I have a Trasharoo that I use regularly and have few complaints with. Except, I stuck my dirty round point shovel, shovel-end down, inside the bag once on a trip and now there's a hole in the bottom where the tip of the shovel wore through. Not awesome, but, not exactly the end of the world...

    Tire Inflator Recommendation

I've toyed with the idea of a DIY CO2 setup, as an off-the-shelf option isn't available in little ol' NZ. But, my Viair88P works just fine. First tire airs up from 18psi to 35psi in about 3 minutes, but the last tire takes about 8 minutes, and the little 88P gets damn hot by the end. But, it...

    Windows PC Navigation

You can install the Android Subsystem for Windows on Windows 10/11 PCs - this will allow you to, legally and officially supported, install Android apps in Windows. I have done before this to use the Android version of Apple Music on my PC with great results. With this installed, you can then...

How I power a electric blanket all night while overlanding

Made it to 8 hours with 23% battery remaining. I stopped the test there as I figure I likely wont ever need 8+ hours of electric blanket and I don't want to run the unit completely to 0%. I'm pretty happy with that.

    Garmin TREAD

Reading about it makes it seem like the perfect device. I love the incorporated InReach functionality. But, that price is scary, and I can't even think of what it would be in $NZD, if it is even available at all.

How I power a electric blanket all night while overlanding

Yeah, yeah - cold, electric blankets. I get it. Let's talk about that Split-Window Coupe. j/k :) Thanks for the video - very informative. And, coincidentally, I just bought a Goal Zero Yeti 200X for this exact purpose. I too cannot tolerate the cold and I have one of those questionable...

Plates and bowls, let's overthink this together

Bamboo tableware, similar to this is pretty good. Very lightweight, yet sturdy and durable.

Interesting thoughts to ponder! What's your take?

That's a lot of words in defense against my post that was basically in agreement with the original thread topic, with the sole exception being that I feel as though electronic maps and "GPS" are the modern technological evolution of the paper map and my choice to embrace that. My "shunning"...

    Looking for younger people

Heya - I hope you find your people. Just a bit of advice though, it may not be a super great idea to put your phone number out on the Internet like that. Stay safe.
