Same but different. In all honesty don’t worry about the actual ratio. Nothing will happen if you go 27 breaths or 94 compressions. It’s something to guide you. We don’t count in the hospital. Pick which one you think will work for you. Either 30 compressions to 2 breaths or 100 compressions to...
I have the Alu-Cab shadow awn and love it. Because it sets up so fast and packs away so fast I use it all the time. On the trail, at the kids sporting events, in the driveway when I’m working on stuff.
Current teaching is 100/2 at a higher rate of compressions compared to before. Goal of 100 a minute. This provides a better pump action. The 2 breaths stays the same as that isn’t as important and requires stopping the compressions when doing this alone. Now if you have two people, one should do...
I use a glove from Ringers designed for Firefighters to get people out of cars. Kevlar palm and protection. Barriers against blood borne pathogens, waterproof, and reflective. They get warm in the summer but once broken in have great dexterity. I now have two pairs but my first pair has lasted...
@Fellow Jeeper: I’ve got the request and will hopefully get to it soon. I’m pretty good about reading the comments on the videos so that can work or just PM me.
Chris
Not different types of trips, different number of people. The Camel Trophy is great for 2 people as the roof top tent isn’t that big. The LR4 is great when I take both kids or may dad who is in his 70’s. Both are very capable but in somewhat different ways.
I haven’t done really anything for the height of the vehicle. I have suspension rods from Green Oval Experience in Australia that have three positions: stock, off road height and then “emergency mode” for lots of loft bit only for short distances to get you through the obstacle. I like them...
So the issue with the LR4 and 18 inch rims is that there are only two manufacturers that make 18s that fit will over the brake calipers. Yup, the LR4 has bigger calipers than the LR3 which came with 18s. The easier but most expensive way is to get compomotive wheels from the UK. Great wheels...
Hey Braden!
Great questions! I don’t carry oxygen in my kit just because of the logistics of transporting and storing. Despite the benefits of oxygen for almost all emergencies, the amount of gear and training needed for the average person to safely use it doesn’t match with improved survival in...
Hi!
There are tons of great options but depending on your specific needs not all will work. Can you answer a few questions to help narrow the choices?
How many people do you need to care for?
Will this be a dedicated trauma bag or a mixed trauma and basecamp first aid bag?
What weight and/or...
Bacitracin is one of those it doesn’t really hurt to use it, probably not needed if the wound is cleaned and kept clean. Better for road rash, scrapes and shallow cuts. I don’t routinely use it but I carry it.
I’ll add that to my list! I have an On Call With Chris video about puncture wounds, including snake bites, that needs to be published. I didn’t include what to do if the object is still stuck inside as it was beyond the scope of the video but will make a scenario about it.
As for sepsis, tough...
I like all the posts! I’ve been taking my little ones since they were two on week long trips etc. Frequent stretch breaks are key. For the most part I just let them roam and walk along side them and enjoy watching them discovery a whole new world as someone posted. Here is my favorite pic from...
