Hey! Thanks for buying them! I am working on finding time to put together a video on how I recommend you set your kit up. If you can’t wait, check out the video that introduced it and I go through what’s in the kit and you can get a basic layout.
Chris
I believe Travis from Outer Limit Supply has confirmed that you can use your HSA to purchase this. I do not know if there is any specific documentation.
I usually let them (now 6 & 8) watch on the highway and not on the dirt BUT we take some trips that are a week of dirt with anything from 4-10 hours on trail so there are always exceptions. They’ve been coming with me since they were 2 and know the main rule: they have to stop and enjoy nature...
Good OTC meds are ibuprofen and Tylenol. Can take both together and each does something a little different. We are moving away from opioids and going back to these two for post op pain control.
Springtail Solutions makes the bag BUT everyone should hold off for a bit as we have something in the works. Check out Michael’s latest video for a sneak peak.
They work ok. I’ve used them lots of times and chose to do proper sutures over these. In the field they are an option but pricey and can be tough to apply to certain areas. Also, before you close any wound you need to ensure that it is properly cleaned out. Not just with drinkable water. That is...
Yes we did find snow...on the MET starting at 6000 feet. Had some fun, got sideways a bit, got stuck and had to winch, and got to yank out a Toyota a few times [emoji41]
That’s what I was expecting. Don’t really have a plan. Staying in Pollock Pines and want to just drive off road somewhere. Snow preferred for fun. Might make the trip to Uncle Tom’s Cabin as I’ve never been there.
Do Bowman and then continue on to Toll House, Meadow Lake, and White Rock. All in that area and within two hours of each other. Bowman is a solid 3.5-4 hours from the Bay Area (I’m in Livermore)
Now I’m not an expert on snake anti-venom but I did my homework and I’m pretty sure that here in North America there is only one type of anti-venom used regardless of the snake. So yeah, don’t bring the snake.
Hey!
If there are mild symptoms then Pepcid might help but in the PO form the dose has to be much larger than normal due to first pass metabolism in the liver. I wouldn’t rely on it in the back country. If you only have Benadryl and Pepcid then go for it and use both.
Quikclot is gauze with fancy clotting stuff in it. Anyone can use it. It can be used in/on all wounds. If you have it and someone or yourself is bleeding, use it. You will never regret it and it saves you the “what if’s”.
