Wow! I’m so behind this year. Home repairs , oi vey! I’m finally on my first camping trip of the year (local) and my Big Summer Trip is barely 6 weeks away.
"I didn't go up there to die. I went up there to live."
- Reinhold Messner, on being the first person to climb all fourteen 8000m peaks without supplemental oxygen.
It almost felt like spring today! I booked a few nights at a local campground in April for a trailer shakedown trip. Tomorrow I’ll reserve my final “official” camping spot (Colorado) for my summer tour of the western U.S.
The “snowcrete” is beginning to melt, the toilet is no longer leaking and travel plans are moving forward: Two local trips here on the U.S. east coast and then out to the western states for summer fun!
Recovering from the recent storm and dreaming of warm summer travel. The ground is covered in snow with a thick crust of hard ice. My yard is a skating rink. Thank goodness for microspikes!
Both the Taco and 4Runner have new Falken WildPeak tires in preparation for summer travel. Colorado, Wyoming and Montana camping is booked; next up…Oh, Canada!
Back at home after adding all 3 Florida national parks and a few new birds to my Life List. Here’s wising everyone at OB a wonderful, magical holiday season! (And cool travel gifts, too.)
2025 camping is nearly over and what an amazing year it was! Mountains , moose and many friends. I spent 101 nights camping in the trailer and will add a few nights sleeping in the Taco for holiday travel before 2026 arrives.
Starting to upgrade the new Tacoma. Upcoming mods include Falken Wildpeak AT4’s and an Alu-Cab Contour Canopy. Forget diamonds, 4WD trucks are a girl’s best friend!
Back at home after nearly 3 months traveling through the western U.S. I somehow avoided the numerous wildfires, had amazing hikes, met interesting people, and saw a plethora of wildlife. What a great summer!!
One more week to enjoy Colorado before pointing the 4Runner east and making the long drive home. Scraped ice off the windshield the last two mornings and had to wear socks with my Chacos while cooking breakfast. Winter is coming…
Heading west, leaving Kansas (which at least didn’t try to kill me this year…) for Colorado. Looking forward to Independence Day in the Rocky Mountains!
