Figured I should update some photos of George, my 1995 Discovery 1! He's up to ~212.000 on the clock now and is running better then ever after some recent work.
Also for fun, I put together a short video about him, which can be found here! (https://youtu.be/CxRdhSOBo5c)
A quick note about carrying tools, its pretty important to have actually used the tools you carry. I carry out all my maintenance, repairs, and upgrades using only the tools I have in my rover. If I can't work on the rover in my driveway with those tools they certainly wont work out in the...
My first time up to bald mountain, a beautiful location and fun trail.
edit: The oil stain on the rock is surprisingly not from my rig, despite it being a rover
Reviving this thread here, I am making an impromptu trip up to sierra national forest, and was wondering if anyone has information regarding if bald mountain trail is open.
In my experience I have had the rear-end step out on my rover (full time 4wd keep in mind) when running at street pressures and higher speeds on nice dirt roads if I hit some soft stuff. The first time it happened it caught me off-guard until I figured out why it was stepping out, I figured out...
Everyone is always surprised by just where a 2wd can go offroad. I have driven with a couple of bone stock 4cyl 2wd Chevy s10's up in my local mountains and have only had problems when we were trying to get them stuck! (For recovery practice of course...). Your rig is plenty capable for a large...

Just finished a rescue mission to get the Rover from St. George UT, where it blew up it's transfer case, back home. Towed it back on a uhal with my good friends 05 Tundra.

My multi tool is also my daily work tool in theater, I started with a Letherman Rebar but wanted something a bit heavier duty so I got a Victorinox SwissTool. Great tool, and every person who has used it has been impressed with its quality, I highly recommend it.
Headed up into the mountains for the day after installing a new fan clutch (Finally solving my overheating issues on long hills) and fixing my door latch
Ranges from 14ish mpg on the freeway at slower speeds, 10.5-11.5 average, and the worst I have seen is 6-8mpg while sustaining 80+ mph into a head-wind at altitude.
