    Wildfires in CO

Hello! Please if you are visiting or even if you are a resident...do not have open flame fires in fire ban areas. The area is so dry and as you can see with the wildfires that we have now, we have a giant tinderbox. Do not assume that you know what you are doing and "its ok if I dont get...

Solo Camping Trip - Black Hills, Buffalo Grasslands, Thunder Valley Grasslands

Hi There, I will be traveling to South Dakota for work in a few weeks. I am considering extending my trip and go exploring the Black Hills and surrounding areas on my way back to Colorado. I am looking for dispersed camping suggestions for any of those regions. I know there is a fire ban in SD...

    03 Suburban 2500

Well I have been thinking through my next steps for us. Due to the fact that summer camping season is on the back end of things, once school is back in session and other...so I am probably gonna hold off on more camping gear unless I find exceptional used deals on stuff. However, I think I need...

    Water Storage

Thanks all for the input. Frankly we are new to camping as a family in general so its been a learning curve just how much we use. Our last trip there was a well pump nearby so we were able to refill our 7 gallon reliance for hand washing/dishes. We did run out of drinking water on the last day...

    03 Suburban 2500

Well it’s not nearly as advanced as some of you all but it works for our family of 6 so far. As usual a work in progress but here’s what we got. Yakima skybox (largest one). Keep all the dry goods like sleeping bags, clothing etc in here. I just added the SkinnyWarrior today and plan to hold...

Hi, We are a family of 6 and I am just trying to sort out how much water we should be bringing for 3-4 day trips and how to effectively store that. Looking for suggestions on containers that safely store water on top of the vehicle (suburban). This water will be used for...

I am not a tire expert. I just looked at my current tires and they are 245/75/16's. Not sure that would fit on my rims?

    Winter friendly routes CO/WY

I know a good majority of the routes around these parts (northern Colorado/Wyoming) close down for the winter, but are there any decent winter routes worth exploring even as a day trip or aone nighter? Thanks! Jared

Why are there so few Silverado overland rigs?

Interesting thread and some good info! My only 4x4 vehicle currently is a 2004 chevy suburban 2500 lt with the 8.1l engine. I have it as my highway hauler and family vehicle. Yep it sucks gas, but it's constant regardless of load. I'm not sure I want to do a whole bunch of modifications to it...
