US East Northern VA / MD Monthly Meetups

I am planning a trip next week for a 1 night trip down to Cape Hatteras, NC. This trip isn't so much about driving on challenging terrain, but more about finding a nice spot on the beach to grill, eat and relax. The campground that I plan on staying at requires a ferry ride to an island. The trip will require a ORV permit to be purchased, a free beach fire permit to be filled out, and to reserve a campsite.

I will be leaving very early on Thursday morning (6am as it is roughly a 5 hour drive from Springfield, VA) and will be driving back on Veteran's day (Friday). On the ORV permit Rules and Regulations it states: Pets must be on a 6-foot leash at all times. Pets are prohibited within any resource protection closure or on the beach adjacent to prenesting closures.

So it looks like they are allowed except on protected areas or near turtle nests.

Today was chilly so curious to see how the weekend will be. What dates are you looking to run? Saw the post on Mid-Atlantic for the run this weekend but its kind of outta the way.

Yes expect 15 degrees outside, but also expect no wind and a kickass fire.

Last month was 470 mile round trip weekend warrior, keeping this one local one stop shop, camp life, keep the fire going and the whiskey pouring cause I ain’t leaving.

Have some adulting I need to get done this weekend so I will have to pass. Might do the cars and coffee even if anyone on here wants to go.

Should be a good turnout tomorrow, as the weather should be good compared to the last two weeks. Did we ever establish a rendezvous? The parking lot @ the BBT bank branch is walking distance to Katie’s Coffee Shop. Another option might be to reply to this thread when you arrive?

I havent seen anything established. Dont know how many people plan on going but meeting at the BBT Bank sounds good. I plan on being there @ 6.
