Rally Point Details:

Meet 8/13 11 am at McDonalds (8940 Pocket Rd, Sacramento, CA 95831; off I5). There is a Shell station across the street to top off.
Drive to Bridgeport (East on I50, south on US395). This should take ~4 hours if we don't have issues with forest fires.
From Bridgeport take the Masonic Trail (in Peter Masey's "Backcountry Adventures Nor Cal" book) to Masonic and find a place to disperse camp.
8/14 - Take the FR 169 to Bodie; spend some time seeing the sights (note there is entrance fee, and an optional tour fee). Drive to the Mono Lake Visitor center to find a place to camp near Mono Lake. I've never camped here and I know there are some restrictions, so I want to talk with the ranger first. I suspect it is sandy around the lake, so I will be airing down.
8/15 - Depending on mood, some more sightseeing, then drive back to Sacramento. We could try Kavanaugh Ridge, which I haven't done before.
Note there are fire restrictions in place; you will need a campfire permit for any flame, including stoves. No campfires while dispersed camping.

We need to agree on radios, I suggest GMRS channel 18. Please cc everyone with your planned radio.

Everyone is responsible for their own food, water, shelter, etc. Regarding vehicles, I suggest 4x4 with a low range transfer case; recovery points; tow strap; fire extinguisher.
